President Trump's Proposed Military Parade Will Be Held On Veterans Day

L.A. Times: Pentagon proposes scaled-down military parade, not one with tanks and firepower that Trump envisioned

Pressed by President Trump, the Pentagon is proposing to stage a military parade in November with veterans in historic uniforms and warplanes, but no tanks — a scaled-down version of the grand display of military might the president envisioned, according to a memo released by the Pentagon on Friday.

Veterans in "period uniforms" from past wars would march from the White House to the Capitol on Nov. 11 — Veterans Day — joined by "wheeled vehicles only, no tanks," to "minimize damage to local infrastructure," the planning document says.

Trump asked the Defense Department to plan a parade of the U.S. armed forces to celebrate military strength, much like France's annual Bastille Day parade that he and First Lady Melania Trump attended in July in Paris as the guests of French President Emmanuel Macron.

the draft dodger--Mr heelspurs--loves to have the military as his showmen, but perhaps helping ptsd and fixing the
V.A. etc would be a better show of appreciation.
It is tricky: want to badmouth this display and you dishonor vets! honor vets and you honor the draft dodger. ps: see if you can spot me marching in my very old uniform! I am the guy with not much hair but a nice trimmed moustache

Mr. 1,000 dollar bill tied around his neck so that a college would love him,

You say some funny ____!

If I had a mathematics professor, who had dodged the draft, I would not say you could not explain or teach the spectral theorem (for example).

Your rant, lexilely deficient one, is cut seeing as how you voted for Bubba Clinton not once, but twice in the 1990s. Did it swell your chest with pride to know that Bubba ORGANIZED, LED, or PARTICIPATED in anti-war marches overseas?

Having a true parade might help lower the suicide rate. It might help to have a parade instead of hearing from the effete, like Jasons and the Bobs, telling them that they are baby killers and always trying to run them down.

I couldn't have said this better myself. I'm not sure how much the parade would help, the financial cost is minimal in comparison to other things we are doing, there is huge upside potential, and no downside risks. As such, having the parade seems a no brainer. Give these men and women the dignity of a parade!!

The parade might even serve as a morale boost for the American people. Once empowered with this morale boost, we might even see the American demand that certain needed changes be made to our foreign policy. There is no downside risk to a full parade, much upside potential benefit, and a minimal financial cost.

As a business person, I am sure DJT sees all of this. A full parade seems like a no brainer.

to be against Nam war ought not to be viewed as bad now that we see what it accomplished and what it cost our nation...parades do not lower suicide rates and if you think so, please cite evidence for saying that.
there is a difference between a math teacher teaching and dodging the draft and a president of our nation having the military salute him as they march by...easy for any person to note that. Math teacher et al do not skip the draft. That is for the wealthy and connected

"to be against Nam war ought not to be viewed as bad now"

Virtually the same players as in the Korean War. One is a good war and one is a bad war. That is some ___ hot logic there boy.

You mean to tell us that you were doing something bad, when you got your ROKS off?

"That is for the wealthy and connected"
Or anyone in college at the time

You are quite the scholar.

"Before Congress reformed the draft in 1971, a man could qualify for a student deferment if he could show he was a full-time student making satisfactory progress in virtually any field of study. He could continue to go to school and be deferred from service until he was too old to be drafted."

www.sss.gov/About/History-And-Records/How-The-Draft-Has-Changed-Since-Vietnam

That is common knowledge. What did you get your degree in? Fiddlesticks?

Oh wait, I get it now. Freddie, The Democrat, was trying to set up another class warfare narrative.

"there is a difference ...(blah) (blah) (blah)"
The Left made a cottage industry of draft dodging. The non-Left is going to cutoff their noses to please the Left? Not happening. Most kids of national level politicians and the rich did not go. It is remarkable if the some son of a Congressman gets killed in combat. Many kids of the prominent politicians and the rich end up in politics. It is no surprise that they did not serve. That being the case choose I will take a Trump over a Bernie, Clinton or Jeb any day of the week. Jeb had all the fight in him as a plate of Jello and his ass was not even on the line.

"parades do not lower suicide rates "
I stated my case. Knowing you were in the audience, maybe I should have used smaller words and shorter sentences.

Fred,

Having people respect someone and honor them will, in all likelihood, help their self confidence to a certain degree. People who feel confident and empowered are less likely to commit suicide. While such statements are common sense, some seem to have trouble grasping it.

As to how much the parade will help, I cannot say for certain. Essentially there is no downside coupled with huge upside potential along with minimal financial cost relative to other things we are doing. Why not give these men and women the dignity of a full parade?

As to POTUS's service record or lack thereof, this is a legitimate debate. I suspect he will be in the background and barely seen, if at all, during the parade. After all the parade the parade is about the military personnel to properly honor them and is not about POTUS.

look moron: I got called back against my will...I had certain skills needed and I was on inactive duty...they called up the inactive, not the national guards or the active--till later on..yuur anti Dem/left tirade neglec ts Bush, et al
you can not say anthing without being nasty, viscious...go march in a parade, phuck up, if that is what you want others to do. I do note that Nam is now a country with close ties to us and filled with Am tourists. A parade will not cure PTSD, and I know that for sure, having friends with it from both Korea and Nam ...easy to sitand dump your mean spirited bull crap on outhers. go forth and sin no more. ps: don't worry about the length of words. I have published and have a PhD...and one thing I have learned: don't be mean and nasty. It wins neither friends nor arguments

"I got called back against my will"

No sherlock!

Many people know how that works. You did not answer the question of whether Korea was a good war. We do note from the statement of yours above about your 'will' that like "The Bavarian Corporal", you were very afraid of dying.

"A parade will not cure PTSD"
This from the people that talk about esteem, social promotion and the degradation of having to flash food stamps at the checkout counter.

A cure all by itself? No. But it is a start and it is important.

"I had certain skills needed "
Another gutbuster from the lexilely challenged. You putting us on.

"I have published and have a PhD"
Photography does not count.

"Showing up is 80 percent of life." - Woody Allen (Who married his daughter)

Yup, you showed up with no SAT scores, but most importantly with the deep pockets of Uncle Sam. No wonder the Uni loved you. Cha-ching!

"I do note that Nam is now a country "

http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/you-don-t-say

That was not the country. I noted that the Korean and Vietnam Wars had virtually the same cast of characters. So which one(s) was the good war(s) or bad war(s) and do not go off on some senile tangent that well they both have Asian populations.

"you can not say anthing without being nasty, viscious"

1) "look moron"
2) "go march in a parade, phuck up"
3) "easy to sit and dump your mean spirited bull crap"

I would like to see what you published. You talk so much, but go off on tangents and need to have a minder to keep you on topic. Senility? Perhaps. Maybe you had better watch out who you hang around with, because it is contagious. You have heard of the germ theory of disease?
