Special Counsel Robert Mueller To Charge A Number Of Russians Who Hacked Democrat Emails

NBC: Mueller eyes charges against Russians who stole, spread Democrats’ emails

WASHINGTON — Special counsel Robert Mueller is assembling a case for criminal charges against Russians who carried out the hacking and leaking of private information designed to hurt Democrats in the 2016 election, multiple current and former government officials familiar with the matter tell NBC News.

Much like the indictment Mueller filed last month charging a different group of Russians in a social media trolling and illegal-ad-buying scheme, the possible new charges are expected to rely heavily on secret intelligence gathered by the CIA, the FBI, the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), several of the officials say.

WNU Editor: Good luck on trying to extradite these Russians. This may also result in charges being levied against Wikileaks and those who posted these hacked emails.

There is no intention of getting hold of those indiduals to put them in an American jail...this is establishing a much broader case for those here in the U.S.

In that case charge the Americans who assisted the Russians. But as Deputy Attorney General Rosenstein remarked the last time that the Justice Department levied charges against Russians .... there are no Americans involved who willingly participated in assisting these Russian efforts. So what is the broader case for those in the U.S.?

This case on the hacking of the Democrat Party servers and Podesta's email account is also perplexing because Julian Assange who instigated this entire episode and who has remarked that he is more than open to talk to the Special Counsel .... as of now no one in Mueller's office has even bothered to contact him.

Bottom line. This has the appearance of a PR stunt. To show that the Mueller Counsel is relevant.

I would merely note that (1) we do not know what Mueller has, knows, but a number of people note that he has amazing details on those he has already charged. (2) blaming Obama is a mere deflection and is NOT what this post is about. (3)while those who are seemingly anti-Mueller focus on the length of time being taken, professional prosecuters involved in such matters such as Nixon etc all note that this is not at all a long time for such work and that indictments are forthcoming at very fast pace.

blah blah blah...unstable .....cut back on meds or whatever is causing a total lack of focus...dumping tidbits that are meant to show your hate of Dems does not make your comment in the least bit relvant...and the name calling is a spotlight on classless writezr

WNU Editor,

You have pretty much nailed it here. Not only this but certain petty losers have upset and very likely a very careful and meticulously put together diplomatic process that had a very good chance of ending Cold War2. Not only this but it may have even yielded fruit in helping us to deal with problems such as North Korea and Iran.

Aizino,

You seem to be materially correct here. How would the Russians expect to compete with the Russian machine? If a very limited Russian effort in terms of resources and funds is able to undermine the US electoral system, then then the Russians are even more clever than anyone could have imagined. In which case we should save ourselves the trouble and surrender now!! I DO NOT believe this to be the case. If our democratic system really is so fragile, then we need to scrap it and start over from scratch. Again, I do not believe this to be the case.

Bottom line: bad candidate, bad campaign management, and bad messaging = bad result. Normal people learn from the mistakes, try and improve, and come back better and stronger next time. Others invent conspiracy theories and other such things to explain away their failures.

I meant "how would the Russians expect to compete with Democrat machine?" I apologize for the oversight. While no excuse, I was multitasking at work while typing this and combined with generally poor eyesight when this is not primary job or responsibility sometimes tying errors happen when I post here.

Thank you for pointing out the oversight. I will try and improve.

BTW, Fred,

On this day in 1974, the Indictments for Watergate were released by the Grand Jury.

We'll see if Meuller stays up late to drop more Indictments like he did last time, or waits until Monday like he has before.
