CIA Director Pompeo Confirmed That 'Hundreds' Of Russians Were Killed By U.S. Forces In An Attack In Syria A Few Weeks Ago

Time: President Trump's Pick for Secretary of State Just Confirmed 'Hundreds' of Russians Were Killed in a U.S. Attack in Syria

President Trump’s nominee to serve as Secretary of State confirmed Thursday that “a couple hundred Russians were killed” by U.S. forces in Syria earlier this year.

Mike Pompeo, who currently serves as CIA director, offered the confirmation in response to questions about the U.S. relationship with Russia. The February attack by U.S. special forces — acknowledged at the time by Russian and Syrian officials but until now unconfirmed by the U.S. — targeted pro-government Syrian forces who were working alongside Russian mercenaries.

These were mercenaries meeting up with US forces who were probably main line US forces. What would happen if main line US forces and main line Russian forces met in battle? I hope we don't find out.

Bposter.. we finally agree on something. I didn't like his answer one bit. Sure it's fun and games and looks tough when he gave this answer. But, importantly, they were mercenaries as you pointed out and even more important, he insulted Russians with his answer - which is unacceptable. Those guys who died made a mistake - and were wrong. They shouldn't have attacked the US military and paid for their mistake. Having said that, what good does it do to talk like that after the fact? Like talking about wiping out bugs. These were not bugs, sir, but Russians and we better finally stop this sh*t of alienating them and insulting them all the time. If there's proof of Russian meddling in the US election at higest level - as has been told to us by CNN for more than 1.5 years now, then let's see the evidence and get rid of Trump and kick Russian Ass. BUT...if there is nothing more than the typical influencing ALL nations do (especially the US), this Mueller investigation should stop and this "cold war is hip attitude" should stop too. There's one thing of holding Russians accountable and defending our western interests, but a whole different thing to talk up killing Russians and being tough on Russians and isolating them and making it look like a crime if you're Russian. That's Un-American and also not what the rest of the West stands for. I'm European myself and it's probably not my thing to tell Americans what to do, but they better show evidence at one point or stop talking about Russia and Russians that way. It's not OK. If all of this Russian conspiracy is turning out to be nonsense - which is big part of his stance on being "tough on Russia" - would we still accept his answer on how those Russians died? Would it be so cool then to kill hundreds of them? Wtf
Imagine it were any other nation. Would we be cool if he talked like that about French? Vietnamese? Italians?
Mueller better find something big soon or stop this sh*t show...it is influencing how we all behave to Russia. What if we were wrong or over hyped their influence? It's not funny anymore and it will be even less funny of

I'm thinking this is more propaganda from US. I have read international reports that most casualties were suffered by local tribesmen who support Assad. A more credible number is somewhere around 2 dozen Russian Mercs KIA. Also, I think that they were in a convoy approaching US positions and not in battle formation when attacked. I am interested if there are any reports from pro-Assad/Russian survivors with yhe details. WNU editor have you heard of any from your Russian contacts? Thanks for the Blog!

Until there is an accurate accounting of casualties in the "massive numbers of Russians killed" affair, there is no way to know what truly happened.

American mainline forces?

They were facing Kurdish civilians with 1 to 6 years of combat experience fighting ISIS leavened by a sprinkling a American advisors. The USAF was called in. The Russians have an Air Force too in Syria and they were ....? Where?

The Russians are plenty tough enough, but they are also more broke than the Americans, which is why they sell everything to the Chinese and are 2nd fiddle to the Chinese.

Just remember if the Russian get more pathetic and the Chinese are hungry they have valid land claims on Russia.

It is called unequal treaties. The Chinese have a special name for it and they have not forgotten.

If they can take what is rightfully theirs, they'll take the taiga and tundra too with all the oil. Once you take the rail line to Vladivostok and Vladivostok itself, you might as well go clear to the Artic

Then Russia will truly be in a bad place.

Maybe a kinetic war between Russia and the U.S. in Syria can speed that day.

You have American Leftists, Russian agents, and who knows, who else pushing every button o the internet, to get some hoped for reaction. It is a grand game of whack-a-mole.

With the Democrats politicians and Leftists in Canada (looking at you Jay) and America crying "Russia, Russia, Russia..." we are bound to get a war or some period of kinetic action.

I agree somewhat. I think Putin's biggest mistake is to alienate the west instead of seeking friendship. Now he -has- to depend on China. And, as you pointed out, China will land-/resource- grab sooner or later. Russia's population is shrinking and you've got soon 2 billion Chinese neighbours indoctrinated by Xi and their rightful claim on Russia...old language scripts will show Russia is an old Chinese name for "Chinese sacred old land". Lol stupid Putin gets played again and again because of his ego..and meanwhile Russians applaud him

It is called "Outer Manchuria, bitch boy.

Your only hope loser is that the American does to China what the French and British did to Russian during its wars with the Ottoman Empire for 2 centuries. Does the Crimean War ring a bell?

Maybe Russian could head this off by willing giving up large chunks of territory to the Tanguts and suggesting that China do the same. That plan does have several drawbacks. The UN is toothless for one. Also the Han figure if the Tanguts can rule them twice over a 1,000 years, the Han can return the favor. Then there is the imbalance of power.

"How much territory has China lost as a result of Russian intervention since the 19th century?"

"After losing the Opium Wars, the Qing dynasty was forced to sign a series of treaties that gave away land and ports to the European powers; these were known as the unequal Treaties"

Anon it is really sad, but I can't tell the difference between you and a brain dead liberal. Well except that you perhaps have a bigger paycheck.
