Germany Will Not Take Part In A Syria Military Strike

DW: The German stance on Syria: Ready to help, but not militarily

Germany expects to be consulted, so they have time to leak it to the Russians.

Merkel is a moron.

I think the myth of all of this "western unity" is being exposed for whst it is, a myth. I always knew this though.

Now try this for "realpolitik." Russia is a major power in Europe, has been for centuries, has demonstrated a remarkable ability to survive, and, as such, the most reasonable conclusion is it woll have a major role in European affairs for many more centuries.

In contrast America is a declining and deeply divided power that assuming it survives at all isn't going to have a major role in European affairs for much over the next few years. A country in Germany's position simply cannot afford to alienate s country like Russia and, at the end of the day, it simply cannot give the American crazies who are itching for war with Russia what they want.
