Alex Lockie, Business Insider: Russia appears to be readying for a naval battle with the US near Syria — but it could be a bluff
* Russia's navy appears to have responded to President Donald Trump's warning that US missiles are headed to Syria, as well as the US Navy's deployment of an aircraft carrier to the region.
* The Russian military has said it is tracking the movements of the US Navy. In the past, the US has used Navy ships to attack Syria.
* Eleven Russian navy ships were seen leaving a port in Syria, but an expert said it could be a bluff.
Russia's navy appears to have responded to President Donald Trump's warning that US missiles are headed to Syria after he accused the Syrian government of again conducting chemical warfare against its people.
The Russian military has said it is tracking the movements of the US Navy, Reuters reported Wednesday.

WNU editor: Aside the harsh rhetoric .... Russia is not prepared to engage the U.S. Navy in a naval battle. They do not have the assets in the region to be a serious threat.

Be cool: True, the Russians will at most try to shoot down some missiles down but they will definitely not attack US ships firing them. That would be suicide and lead to the loss of their enitre naval fleet.
A friend of mine was scared of nuclear war... Not likely, I told her that the only way that would happen is if the US would bomb Russia itself. Putin is not mad enough to end the world over a "shithole" country like Syria...
Korea, Vietnam... US and russian airmen were killing each other at will(Over foriegn soil).
Only real question no is how many missiles can russa knock down?

Its going to be an interesting set of events thats for sure.
The ships will sink, that aircraft carrier will be unable to launch or recover aircraft and the Russian aerospace will dominate the area under its S400 protection. Turkey would have to hit that Russian airbase.

Russian only has so many ships and anti air missiles...
Israel has been bombing syria at will with minimal collateral damage, and without stealth, just tactics and strategy...
Russia is definitely not a joke, but the US will overwhelm them without a doubt.
Only thing Russia can do is facilitate the end of civilization.
And not even rocketman in Korea is crazy enough to do that...
Yeah, for the second Anon dude, you are dreaming. The Russian Navy will not last 10 minutes against a NATO fleet and Air Forces. The Russians are isolated in the Med and in Syria. We have more assets to use against them.
Back in 1982 the Argentinian air Force give the royal British navy a run for his money just Whit a handful of super-etandars and some exosets missiles.if Russia play their cardsc well NATO would re direct the confict to Russia it self were they would have to think twice.Russia strong side is on Land .NATO know this . there is a full doctrine of land warfare well know the technological advantage of NATO would dissipate on The massive sizes of land.
