President Trump Repeats His Remarks From Last Week That He Wants U.S. Troops Out Of Syria

Politico: Trump: ‘I want to get out’ of Syria

President Donald Trump on Tuesday again voiced support for pulling U.S. troops out of Syria, saying his administration would make a decision on the matter “very quickly.”

“I want to get out. I want to bring our troops back home,” the president said during a multilateral news conference with the leaders of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

He added: “Sometimes it’s time to come back home. And we’re thinking about that very seriously.”

The president said the “primary mission” for keeping a military presence in the country, which remains besieged by a multifaceted war, was the defeat of the Islamic State. Given that this task is “almost completed,” Trump said, his administration will look to make a final decision on the status of U.S. troops in the region “very quickly.”

WNU Editor: The original mission was to defeat the Islamic State .... a mission that is almost completed. So once ISIS is defeated what will be the purpose of maintaining U.S. troops in a region that is plagued by continuous war? To placate Israeli/Saudi/and other concerns because of Iran .... to have a role in what will happen in Syria next .... to maintain a presence so that ISIS never returns? If so .... let us have a debate. But so far we have only had a few US Senators (like Lindsay Graham) who have voiced his opposition to such a withdrawal .... Graham: Pulling out of Syria ‘the single worst decision’ Trump could make (Politico), and some in the military/foreign policy establishment.

I must say it is refreshing to open this debate. But I can’t see how Trumps’s “we beat the hell out of ISIS” and now come home is different from Obama’s “I killed Osama bin Laden and defeated AQ” so re-elect me.
Just coming home won’t cut it unless the USA takes extreme steps, like China, to severely restrict ME immigration.

"...to severely restrict ME immigration." Actually this should have been done post 911. While "jury is still out" on DJT and he has mostly been a disappointment he has shown flashes of common sense. Hopefully we can get something like that implemented. It makes little sense to allow people who don't like you unfettered access to your house. It makes much more sense to block their entry into your house.

Well even that previous criminal Nixon signed the EPA into existence. So there's that I guess.
