Will the coming crunch destabilise the regime?
TEHRAN’S grand bazaar, a weathervane of politics, is on strike again. Shutdowns there foreshadowed Iran’s 1979 revolution. In 2012 they pushed the government into talks that eventually resulted in a deal, signed in 2015, that restricted Iran’s nuclear efforts in exchange for sanctions relief. And Donald Trump’s pull-out from that deal on May 8th drew an instant reaction from traders, who sense something ominous. “Tehran feels like it did before...1979,” says Pejman Abdolmohammadi, an Iranian lecturer at the London School of Economics.
Iran’s business world was already glum. America’s continued curbs on dollar transactions had muted the effect of the lifting of global sanctions in January 2016. But now, merchants say, America is moving from containing the regime to trying to change it. Mr Trump has told firms worldwide that they have three to six months to cut ties with Iran or face sanctions, too. Oil exports, which rose as a result of the deal, are already falling. Maersk, the world’s largest shipping line, no longer takes orders for Iranian oil. South Korea has cut oil imports from Iran by 40%.

Very respectfully an analysis based strictly on population alone is superficial. Nevertheless, if we were to do so, we would have to count the populations of China, Iran, and Europe as well as the economic power and military power of these groups and countries.
In this case, the group of Russia, China, Iran, and Europe are more powerful in every way and, if unified, should win. This actually leads to a good reason to have stayed in the "Iran deal." Essentially it acknowledges that yes the Iran deal truly is a "crap sandwich" but we must stick with it. We have no choice. The alternatives are worse. In fact, had I been POTUS I probably would have stuck with the deal based upin this analysis.
We weren't sold the Iran deal based upon it being a crap sandwich that we had to dign. We had no choice. We were sold this based upon it being the best thing since warm bread. It took enormous courage for POTUS to withdraw from it.
On the plus side, the US has a POTUS who is brilliant and courageous. This gives us a fighting chance. Furthermore I've long suspected the governments of wedtetn European nations to be enemies of America. Now we know. This will help us to be able properly deal with the situation.

The POTUS Obama did not get senate confirmation. It is strictly his deal and his ass is not big enough to cash that check.
The Iranian regime has so much corruption and so many contradiction that without infusions of cash form Odumba or Fat Fraulein Merkel, it will fall apart on its own.

The Fat Fraulein will not be in power forever. The last 9 months have been easy for the schmendrik. The next 12 months will not be as kind for her. Various German states will hold elections, her party will dwindle and there will be a political coup.
