Washington Post: Iran to negotiate with Europeans, Russia and China about remaining in nuclear deal
ISTANBUL — Iranian Pres. Hassan Rouhani said he has directed his diplomats to negotiate with European countries, Russia and China about remaining in the nuclear deal despite the U.S. withdrawal from the agreement.
But Rouhani said Iran is ready to start unlimited uranium enrichment if these negotiations do not yield benefits in a couple of weeks.
Iranian officials struck a defiant tone Tuesday as President Trump withdrew the United States from a landmark nuclear deal with Tehran, a move that reimposes harsh economic sanctions and could prompt Iran to restart suspended nuclear activities.
Trump, a longtime critic of the 2015 agreement, announced his decision on the deal from the White House Tuesday afternoon, abandoning the accord that was signed under President Barack Obama.

WNU Editor: The Europeans cannot do that much. Their companies will be severely penalized if they do business with Iran .... and this includes their banks. China is in a trade fight with the U.S. .... they do not want to give the Trump administration an excuse to start sanctioning Chinese companies. Russia may do business with Iran .... but aside from nuclear power and conventional weapons deals .... they do not have much to offer. And to make matters worse .... Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has given a deadline of a few weeks. Bottom line .... this deal is worthless right now.

This deal allowed Iran to forbid any inspections for nukes at Iranian military sites. That made the deal worthless.
This deal allowed Iran to declare its nuclear weapons program as non-existent without any verification. A lie now exposed and made the deal worthless.
Trump saying this deal was worthless is nothing more than speaking the truth.
The deal might or might not have worked. Now, no deal: Iran will get nukes
War is the answer
Love is the key nobody should have such a unholy weapon
But it's all going to go to the opening gates of hell I see it

Why not enlist?
Oh god Fred .please realize they never gave up their program.and Obama literally shipped 150bn in cash to them. It was their money, true, but the money was sanctioned. Now they have the money, didn't give up their nuke program, lied to the world and you want Trump to continue down this path? Wake up man
Yeah this deal was dead the day it was inked. Trump had the guts to confront Kim and he has the fortitude to walk away from this
Also. ..when you write "the deal might or might not have worked". That's insane. A deal about nukes HAS TO WORK and be VERIFIABLE.especially if you send that kind of money the Iranians can use for rockets and other things..insane in its face.just because Obama made the deal doesn't mean it was good. It looks it was a bad deal, honestly. And as Israeli intelligence showed last week they lied from the get go. So yeah on this one I'm with Trump. Especially (!!) as North Korea is watching.
While we cannot "know" what is happening unless we have access to inside information in real time, we can make inferences based upon prior experience and common sense. The current "deal" had off limits for inspections certain military sites, Americans weren't even allowed on the inspections teams, Iran "death to America" has never abandoned that goal, they have enjoyed the backing of Russia and China, and they don't have a track record of being trustworthy.
With no real enforcement mechanism, no downside for lack of compliance, and huge upside potential for lack of compliance there would be no reason to expect Iran to comply. In other words, keep the deal and it is my considered opinion Iran definitely gets nuclear weapons. Abandon the deal and try to renegotiate it and there is a possibility of preventing Iran from getting nuclear weapons.
This is my considered opinion and I could misread the situation. It could be argued that, while the deal is flawed, we need to keep it as the alternative is worse. As I recall, this deal was not initially sold that way. How much support do we have from "allies" such as the UK, France, and Germany to renegotiate this? Are Russia and China willing to look the other way. There are indications that Russian support fir Iran may not be as rock solid as it once was. An example of this is less harassment by Iranian personnel of our personnel in the Persian Gulf. For this I credit Trump diplomacy with the Russians as this is the only new variable.
Never in living memory has the US had as akilled a negotiator and deal maker as POTUS. As such, I'm cautiously optimistic that we can get this deal renegotiated. I think getting it renegotiated would be optimal. If not, is a bad deal better than no deal? O hope and pray this is the right decision and that it works out.
Why don't you enlist,Fred? I know. ..your age. .but still
What I noticed is that whenever you have no argument you say "why not enlist?
It's insulting, Fred. Whenever someone voices a different opinion you tell them basically they are stupid and their opinion doesn't matter and if they truly believe they are right they should show so by enlisting. They have the right to dissent from your democratic view without enlisting, OK Fred?
You go ahead. You enlist, Fred.

Another strategy Fred has used when he has no argument is he may accuse you of being a "Russian troll." He has used this with me when he has no argument.
Fred is just another lingering basement dweller like Jay. Ignore them both and they lose their lifeblood to troll.
