Is Israel and Iran On The Path To War?

David Wainer, Donna Abu-Nasr, and Henry Meyer, Jerusalem Post: Israel and Iran on Path to War as Mideast Tinderbox Awaits Spark

There have been coups and revolutions, external invasions and proxy conflicts, but the Middle East hasn’t seen a head-to-head war between major regional powers since the 1980s.

There’s a growing risk that one is about to break out in Syria, pitting Israel against Iran.

The Islamic Republic’s forces are entrenching there, after joining the fight to prop up President Bashar al-Assad. The Jewish state, perceiving a direct threat on its border, is subjecting them to an escalating barrage of airstrikes. Nobody expects those strikes to go unanswered.

Iran has, for the first time, an enemy who is talking not only with words but with weapons too. They also know that there is no more strongest opponent than the one who is fighting for its survival...and have nuclear weapons.
Iran will do nothing, except terrorist attack on Jewish interest around the world.

Nothing like a war to divert attention from Bibi's bribes, scandals, crimes and IDF war crimes. But I do get a laugh out of his prop comedy presentations!

I'll take Bibi over anyone the Haaretz would like. Liberals conjure up scandals out of smoke and hot air.

An Israeli plane was shot down over the middle of Israel, Harduf.

Assad won't have a pot to piss in if he keeps that up.

If Iran leaves, Assad will be at the mercy of everyone. So if he wants to shoot down Israeli planes with or without Russian operators, he ought to think on that.

If you actually understand the rhetoric Israel is telling its enemies back down or go to war. A cornered nuclear power can be forced into a corner for just so long. When the correlation of forces and actions reaches the tipping point, watch out.

Agree, they will not sit idle playing tit for tat indefinitely

Fazman,

I think the Israelis have done more damage in monetary terms. They lost an F16, but they inflicted much more damage. But your point is sound.

Merely dishing out more than you are getting is not enough when you are facing Hamas, PLO, Hezbollah, Iran, Syria and possibly Iraq.

On the other hand if the Ayatollah's fall the other belligerents are screwed.

Yep, you interpretation of my point is 100% correct.
