Prosecutor Mueller Wants To Know Why A Russian Oligarch Gave $500,000 To President Trump's Lawyer Michael Cohen

Stormy Daniels attorney Michael Avenatti is alleging that a Russian oligarch reimbursed longtime Trump lawyer Michael Cohen following his payment to the porn star who claims she had an affair with President Trump

Daily Mail: Special Prosecutor Mueller quizzes Putin-linked billionaire about $500,000 which Trump lawyer Michael Cohen received AFTER he paid Stormy Daniels hush money

* Stormy Daniels lawyer Michael Avenatti leveled the extraordinary allegations online Tuesday
* He says after his own investigation, longtime Trump attorney Michael Cohen got $500,000 from a company controlled by a Russian oligarch
* Payments came after Cohen says he took out a HELOC loan to finance a $130,000 payment to Daniels
* The payments came from Viktor Vekselberg, a Russian oligarch billionaire
* Vekselberg is on list of sanctioned Russian individuals by Trump administration
* Cohen is under criminal investigation and the FBI has raided his home, office, and a hotel where he is staying

Robert Mueller's team has questioned a Russian oligarch over a $500,000 payment made to Donald Trump's lawyer Michael Cohen after he paid Stormy Daniels, it has emerged.

Michael Avenatti, attorney for the porn star who claims she had an affair with President Trump, alleged on Tuesday evening that the oligarch, Viktor Vekselberg transferred approximately $500,000 to Cohen in 2017. The funds came in several installments in 2017.

Update #2: Trump lawyer Michael Cohen 'paid by firm linked to Russian' (BBC)

WNU Editor: The first thing that ran through my mind was .... how did Stormy Daniels' lawyer Michael Avenatti know that a Russian company had hired and paid attorney Michael Cohen $500,000? It looks like someone told him about this .... and since the only one who is investigating this case is the Mueller Counsel, one can easily assume that they leaked it to him. Is this a big thing .... maybe. But this Russian oligarch is well known for giving money to Washington's elite .... including even the Clintons and her 2016 campaign Chairman John Podesta .... Emails show Clinton ties to Russian oligarch under investigation (Washington Examiner). Bottom line .... if what this Russian oligarch and the recipients of his money did is illegal .... we must as well then indict every politician in Washington (which in my opinion is probably not a bad idea").

Political war by leak.

Mueller is a combatant.

He should be treated according to the Geneva convention.

We have no evidence that Mueller has this information or has released or leaked this story. What we do have is the fact that Stormy Daniel's lawyer gave out this story during a video interview and that this information was picked up and seemingly verified by a numer of news outlets. Nothing thus far points to Mueller connection to this news release

dear editor: this in the piece you post!

" The emails, obtained by conservative-leaning Citizens United and provided first to the Washington Examiner, do not reveal any illegal activity on the part of the State Department, the Clintons or their foundation."

You are screaming.

Worried much?

dear heart--why should I scream? I merely posted what is, not speculation and not approval or dismissal...at my age (88+) screaming is bad for blood pressure. At my age, grouchiness and distain and contempt are age appropriate. And so: dismiss me and what I post if you will. What? me worry?

How does Avenatti legally obtain someone else's bank records? How is it legal for Avenatti to publicly reveal someone else's bank records? Since Mr. Avanetti believes it is okay to publicly reveal someone else's bank records then it is also okay to reveal the company that he "used" in his "own" research to obtain these records and furthermore reveal how this entity was paid and not only how it was paid, but everyone who was involved including who authorized the company and who is part of this company regardless of their association.

The Mueller Team leaked to Avenatti.

Avenatti did not illegally obtain them this information on his own.

Somebody or somebodies on Team Murller need to go into the slammer.

Last Anon,
"Somebody or somebodies on Team Murller need to go into the slammer."
I agree. I also want to know how Avenatti was able to get this legally and how is releasing it publicly legal? If illegal then everyone involved is a participant period.

We do not know how the material got into his hands. But to jump on the messenger in order to excuse the message is foolishness in the extreme...how many whistleblowers or leakers have we had in the past?

What may be the most famous leak in U.S. history occurred in June 1971, when The New York Times published sections of a top-secret Department of Defense report on the country's involvement in Vietnam from 1945-1967. Dubbed the "Pentagon Papers," the report detailed how the Johnson administration and others repeatedly misled Congress and the public about the causes and progress of the Vietnam War, according to the History Channel. who to blame on that? the leaker or the leaked?

I think the Russians leaked the info just to screw with the "gullible" and make them jump up and down and dance in the streets chanting "we got him now". Catfishing 101...

Editor: Mueller Commission NOT the only group looking into Cohen

Cohen was the Trump Organization’s point person for the Trump Tower Moscow project in 2015, even asking the Kremlin for help to get the project approved. That deal is why Mueller reportedly looked into Cohen. Mueller brought the details of what he’d found to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who decided that the federal prosecutor in New York should handle an investigation into Cohen.

If Cohen used any of the contacts he made with the Russian government to try to influence the election, he could face state election fraud charges. New York state law bans trying to get a candidate elected by “unlawful means,” and working with the Russians would likely fall under another section of the law that bans interfering with the “free exercise of the elective franchise.”

Cohen, Manafort, ...

Rosenstein investigated Manafort a few years back. Now, Rosenstein is the person who unleashed his boy, Mueller.

Rosenstein found nothing then, he'll find nothing now.

This is all getting very incestuous.
