Al Arabiya/AFP: Jubeir: Saudi Arabia will seek nuclear weapon if Iran does

Saudi Arabia will seek to develop its own nuclear weapons if Iran does, Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir told CNN on Wednesday, amid spiraling tension between the regional rivals.

WNU Editor: There is a part of me that strongly believes that Saudi Arabia will pursue a nuclear weapons program in the future .... even if Ian does not. Almost all of the major countries in the Middle East .... Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt .... do have the resources and means to pursue these weapons programs. It is amazing to me that with the exception of Iran .... they have held back this long.

Saudi Arabia already has a nuke of Pakistani origin. They paid for it.

It is not organically made.

Just as Anon said, Saudi Arabia has been long invested in Pakistans nuclear weapons. These two Arab nations are very friendly, politically speaking, and its a way for the major Sunni power actors to counter the Shia Iranian threat, while allowing for Saudi Arabia to be politically disconnected from the ramifications that come with possessing these weapons. Saudi Arabia essentially has unfettered access to these weapons should the need arise.

The Saudis also have Chinese -made DF-5 missiles, quite capable of carrying Pakistani warheads.
