In normal times, the televisions are humming at the FBI’s 56 field offices nationwide, piping in the latest news as agents work their investigations. But these days, some agents say, the TVs are often off to avoid the crush of bad stories about the FBI itself. The bureau, which is used to making headlines for nabbing crooks, has been grabbing the spotlight for unwanted reasons: fired leaders, texts between lovers and, most of all, attacks by President Trump. “I don’t care what channel it’s on,” says Tom O’Connor, a veteran investigator in Washington who leads the FBI Agents Association. “All you hear is negative stuff about the FBI … It gets depressing.”

WNU Editor: The ones who have seriously damaged the reputation and trust of the FBI are the ones who have been running it for the past few years. We now know via through the Inspector General's investigation on former Acting FBI Director McCabe, admissions from former FBI Director Comey that he leaked to the media as well as now knowing how he handled Clinton's email investigation, coupled with the release of former FBI counterintelligence boss Peter Strzok text messages .... that senior FBI officials prioritized influencing the political process in favor of one political party over the other. Once you politicized an institution, it is very difficult to correct it. And as long as there is that perception that the FBI has been weaponized to favor one political point of view .... this crisis is going to continue.

It is the job now of those supporting Trump in no matter what position held to badmouth the FBI and also our intel...sure. There are bound to be errors, bad moves or calls, a miscalculation in any and all large bureaucracy--but the FBI overall and through their history has an oustanding history in law enforcement. Compare to a president who lies on a daily basis, etc etc and ask why at this time the GOP and Trump and his supporters are daily bashing these organizations...simple: the noose is closing in and frantic efforts are made to try to dismiss what is coming down the pike...the shrill cries grow louder each day as each day more and more revelations are available. exampe: the Cohen/Rudy/Trump statedments on paying off the porn star
Former Acting FBI Director McCabe is facing criminal charges .... the Trump camp have nothing to do with that. And the Inspector General's reports on other misconducts and failures within the upper hierarchy of the FBI .... again .... that is not due to the Trump camp. As I have said before, as long as this perception of the FBI being weaponized by the leaders of the FBI in a political manner continues .... and support or rationalization for it (instead of condemnation) continues .... the FBI will never be able to repair itself in the eyes of many in the American public.

The FBI hadn't changed. Read history. When they target someone they go at that person with a vengeance. The difference is they're targets now include people with the "wrong" political views.
The FBI has a lot of bad apples.
