U.S. To Wage Economic Warfare Against Iran

Esfandyar Batmanghelidj, Lobe Log: They Want War With Iran, They’re Settling for Economic War

On Tuesday, the U.S. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctioned Valiollah Seif, governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) as a “Specially Designated Global Terrorist,” accusing him of moving “ millions of dollars on behalf of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Qods Force (IRGC-QF) to Hezbollah.” OFAC’s move opened a new front in the Trump administration’s accelerating conflict with Iran. The designation of a single individual, even the central bank governor, may not seem that significant. After all, Trump announced last week that he would reimpose all primary and secondary sanctions lifted as part of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) as part of withdrawing from the nuclear deal. But targeting Seif may prove to be the pivotal moment in an economic war.

Wnu, you more and more seem to be trump admin cheerleader , than a level head analyst .
Iran has a history with US sanction since the 80s and have the help of china and russia .
I would argue that today they are in better postion due to the US -Europe tense relationship despite there internal economic woe
There is nothing wrong with having favorable political opinions , but it should not cloud your judgment and prevent you from seeing all side strength and weakness .
Your take have always been valuable and appreciated , hopefully it continue to be so.

Anon,
I respectfully disagree that Iran is in a better position because of current U.S. - Europe tensions .... they are still stuck with the same problems and the same difficulties in getting their economy going.

And while Iran's citizen's may have been willing to accept their poor economic situation after the revolution and during the Iran - Iraq war .... they are not willing to accept it today .... especially since they have been promised that better times would be on hand after agreeing to a nuclear deal.

The collapse of the rial .... and now being at the mercy of countries who will continue to take advantage of their mess .... as they have been since the 1980s .... as I said .... I see zero upside for the mullahs in Iran. Maybe you do .... if so .... you have a listener here.

As for being Trump cheerleader. I am not. I am not even an American citizen. But I am an observer of the U.S. political scene, and what I am seeing is quite a site to see. Just yesterday .... watching the media and the Democrats sugar-coating MS-13 just to condemn Trump's remarks on M-13 gang members being "animals" .... off course I am going to comment on that. And it is not because of Trump .... but more because I am revolted that many in the media and many politicians are actually taking this position.
