I have to wonder how enthusiastic China truly is about having a united Korea at its southern border. 75 million Koreans. 25 million former puppets being speedily acculturated to Western standards of living. Because I believe the North Koreans are oriented south, not north.
A blank slate of a nation ready for economic resurrection. And a nationalistic love and camaraderie for the PEOPLE north of the DMZ.
South Korea has the best military in Asia and a massive industrial base.
Also, South Korea are the cool kids of Asia. The most watched tv shows and movies in Asia. The most listened to music in Asia. Lots of Hyundai & Kia cars in China, Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, etc. (If not Japan). A modern, western cultural juggernaut.
