Donald Trump said Friday after receiving a delegation of North Korean officials that he would attend a June 12 summit that he hopes will result in a nuclear non-proliferation accord with the hermit nation.

The officials came to Washington, after spending several days in New York, to hand-deliver a letter from Kim Jong-un to the U.S. president as the two sides worked to come to an agreement on the broad strokes of the deal that will be hammered out next week, and possibly after that, during formal talks.

WNU Editor: A couple of things I noticed. President Trump personally walked North Korean envoy Kim Yong Chol and his delegation to their car. That is the first time that I have seen President Trump do that. Everyone was serious .... but smiling. U.S. Secretary of State Pompeo was beaming .... he was clearly happy to see what has transpired. As to what is my take on what has happened in the Oval Office .... they probably agreed on the broad points, and the details and timing will be now be worked out by the diplomats. My only concern is that North Korea does not do what North Korea is famous for doing .... changing their mind at the last moment.
