Daily Beast: Beijing Is Holding U.S. Citizens ‘Hostage’ in China
Exit bans are a new tool in China’s global coercion campaign.
In its ongoing campaign to extend its reach beyond its borders, the Chinese government has found a new form of leverage: American citizens in China.
Last year, Beijing prevented several U.S. citizens from leaving China, including a pregnant woman, according to email correspondence obtained by The Daily Beast. The total number of so-called exit bans placed on U.S. citizens in China is unknown, but at least two dozen cases have occurred within the past two years, according to one analyst’s estimate.
Chinese authorities typically target U.S. citizens of Chinese heritage for exit bans, usually in connection with an investigation. Sometimes, Beijing uses American citizens to try to coerce family members residing in the United States to return to China or to cooperate with Chinese authorities in investigations.

No no you must misunderstand. When China does things like that it's all cool because China makes our iPhone. Let's not talk about Chinese human rights violations, torture, forced resettlement by the millions, or their forced sterilisations. The world trades with China so they are good people who cannot so wrong. Also when they armed north Korea with the rocket fuel they use in the very same rockets to threaten us with nuclear death, that too is just a coincidence. So many misunderstandings. The openly declared aim to dominate the World, their militarization of the south China Sea, or how they bully and beat up fishermen from other nations. ..that's just a coincidence. Or their social scoring system. Speak out against them as Chinese and you're gone. But don't worry. .people will tell you the Americans are just as bad. And surely they won't lie. So it's all good don't worry nothing to see here. And don't mention the hundreds of billions in theft and cyber attacks, patent violations and trademark violations every single year. The Chinese are hard working people and their gdp of 11 trillion has only been over inflated by 30%..so they're a very strong nation producing about 9 trillion every year! That's like twice as much as Germany. Haha take that Germany with your 80 million people. ..China with 1.5bn people produces twice as much as you haha dumb Germans... and China is also better than the USA with its 350 million people only managing to produce 20 trillion a year. Stupid Americans...China clearly is best at everything. ..because Konfuzius and ancient history. That's what they tell you why china is great.
