Reports have emerged that the Libyan army has arrested Abu Sufian Bin Qumu, a leader of an Islamist militia group and former driver of Osama Bin Laden.
He was reportedly captured in raids in 'one of the last strongholds' of extremist groups in Derna.
Bin Qumu had purported links to attacks in Benghazi that killed US diplomat Chris Stevens in 2012.

WNU editor: I think years from now .... when the final analysis of Guantanamo Bay has been done .... we will find out that a good number of these detainees when they were released eventually went back into the fight.

You might also wonder how many that were not terrorist, but still went to GITMO with all its accoutrements, became or inspired others to become terrorists after their release. Or, how many people became terrorists because of GITMO.

A good friend of mine is a criminal lawyer in Montreal. I asked him once if any of his clients are actually innocent. His response .... it happens about once every three years, and in that case he works pro-bono.
Sad to say .... it would not surprise me that some of Guantanamo's detainees were innocent or had a friendship with someone that put them in Guantanamo. But most were there because of what they did and who they are, and like most prisoners of war get released when the war is over. Unfortunately in the war against Islamic extremism the war is not over, nor will it be for a long time. Is it still wise to release these detainees .... probably not, but politically speaking it was more easier to release them, than keeping them.
If the men and women in charge had any understanding of what they are up against (Jihadism) they wouldn't be surprised that they would return to the fight after being released. Given how clueless the West is, totally blinded by liberal ideology, you can't expect any better.

You are so correct on this statement, unfortunately. The most likely threat to America is a massive WMD attack by Islamic terrorists involving the use of multiple suitcase nuclear weapons or other portable nuclear weapons along with a multitude of "dirty bombs" detonated simultaneously across multiple metropolitan areas. Millions if not tens of millions of Americans would die.
Given the propensity of these people to return to the battlefield, it is highly likely that some of those who return could be involved in something like this. Obviously the powers that be don't understand this. Whether it is "liberal" or not I can't say, however, I would call it "ideological blindness."
At a bare minimum, it seems prudent to place a moratorium on the entry of such people into our countries and to closely monitor those who fit the profile. It makes little sense to allow people into your home who wish you harm and it makes little sense not to keep a close eye on people who are prone to violence and hate.
