The Hill: Trump calls for Russia to be reinstated into G-7
President Trump on Friday said that Russia should be reinstated into the Group of Seven major economies, a comment that could further anger U.S. allies during what is already expected to be a tense set of meetings.
Speaking to reporters on the South Lawn before leaving for Canada to attend the G-7 summit, Trump said he has been “Russia’s worst nightmare” but argued the country should be a part of the economic talks.
“With that being said, Russia should be in this meeting,” he said. "Why are we having a meeting without Russia being in the meeting?"

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov may say the following .... “Russia is focused on other formats, apart from the G7”, but being readmitted into the G7 will be a huge political win for Russian President Putin both domestic and international. No ifs, buts, or maybes on that.

I watched CNN right after the announcement. For the last few days and especially today, CNN has been more restrained. Something is going on. Maybe they realise that they already lost 25% viewers and still haven't gotten any evidence.
