The Pentagon's Hypersonic Weapons Program Is Now Classified 'Top Secret'

CNBC: The Pentagon's $928 million hypersonic weapons program is now shrouded in secrecy

* The Pentagon and Lockheed Martin have shared limited details about their efforts in developing hypersonic weapons.
* A U.S. Air Force spokesman said the service will not be making any announcements in the near future regarding its work on hypersonics.

As Russia and China continue their march toward fielding hypersonics, the Pentagon and its largest weapons supplier have shared limited details about their own efforts on similar weapons.

After securing a $928 million U.S. Air Force contract to build an undefined number of hypersonic conventional strike weapons, a Lockheed Martin representative noted that the company will "not be able to host any interviews on this program" due to its sensitive nature.

Update: Russian President Putin is saying that Russia's hypersonic missile will be deployed on time in 2019 .... Putin assures that Avangard hypersonic missile system will enter service in 2019 (TASS).

The USA piddled around with lasers, rail guns and hypersonic strike missiles for years. Now a panic has set in.

Once Obama got out of town, I'm sensing fear coming out of the Pentagon. Real or imagined?

Fred- no one in the military supports Obama. Be honest for once. Obama 's policies - while well intended (I was for the sequester at the time too) were done at the wrong time, when the middle east was in flames, China was already militaristic the south China Sea and north korea threat became bigger. Obama (and I,admittedly) were naive in believing it's the right time to cut military spending. It made the world less safe, and Obama's pivot to Asia was a horrible, horrible mistake in communicating
