BBC: China 'shocked' by US actions in trade dispute
China said it is "shocked" after the US announced plans for fresh tariffs, escalating a trade war between the two countries.
The US listed $200bn (£150bn) worth of additional products it intends to place tariffs on as soon as September.
The move comes just days after the two countries imposed tit-for-tat tariffs of $34bn on each other's goods.
Beijing described Washington's latest threat as "totally unacceptable," saying it would harm the world.
"The behaviour of the US is hurting China, hurting the world and hurting itself," a spokesperson for China's commerce ministry said in a statement.
The spokesperson also said the government would have to take the "necessary counter-measures".

The real shock around the world is that President Trump meant every word that Candidate Trump said.
No politician around for the last 50 years expected that. Obama was the rock star for lying during campaign. He spoiled people and now Trump is like an illegal immigrant at a traditional Chinese family funeral.
Very well written anon :)
I have to admit, it does look more and more like Trump could go down as a great president for. .keeping his word. It is refreshing.

It's going to be one hell of a hang over....
China's problems are so many. .one is a bit unreported really. ..we buy goods from other SE Asian countries now.. Thailand for example makes now 40% of mobile phones with --huge-- Samsung and other manufacturers plants over there. .they're also getting bigger in cars etc and cutting into China - because the Thais are cheaper and you get much, much, much better deals and honest treatment over there as an organisation, unlike in China where you are being extorted by state and state protected companies left and right. We stopped buying for our plants from China about a year ago and now get our products exclusively from Thailand and to some extent Vietnam now. And I don't think our company will ever go back to China, and I know so many in my industry who are looking to do the same thing this or next year...it's happening left and right now... I think that is absolutely unreported and I wouldn't be surprised if the Chinese GDP numbers are really inflated by up to 30% as I've read here before. When the market will adjust for that is anyone's guess but it'll be soon I think because traders were suspicious about market health of China for as long as I can remember but especially in the last 5 years or so people started to catch on that something is not quite adding up
