Iran Wants To Withdraw Its Cash (In Cash) From Germany

Washington Free Beacon: U.S. Seeks to Thwart Iran Flying Millions in Cash Out of Germany

Iran in need of cash after President Trump reimposed sanctions

Top Trump administration officials are working to stop Germany from allowing Iran to fly more than $350 million in cash out of the country and back to Tehran as part of a bid by the Iranian regime to restock its coffers ahead of a major financial crackdown by America, according to conversations with senior U.S. diplomats and officials on Capital Hill.

The Trump administration is already working to stop the German government from allowing this transfer following weekend reports that Iran is poised to fly around 300 million Euros out of the country as part of an ongoing scheme to skirt tough new U.S. economic sanctions, which were put back into effect after President Donald Trump decided to abandon the landmark nuclear deal.

Aizino,

The notion that the money is Iranian is not in dispute. In all likelihood it is and I expect it will be returned someday. The operative word someday.

Clearly the US ambassador would not be doing his/her job if they were to stand idly by and allow it to be transferred to Iran "death to America" without working to prevent this. I suspect you are correct about Merkel. She will act out of malice and allow the funds to be released, malice towards Trump and to a lesser extent malice toward America in general. Yet they are still going to expect American largess.

I think they could at least be genuine about this. Formally tell American armed forces in the country to leave and formally request to withdraw from NATO. They won't do this because they like the benefits but don't want to accept the costs. They have been allowed to get away with this for decades. This is now changing. I don't think they have caught on yet.

How much energy does Germany import from Iran? How easily replaced are these supplies should Iran not receive these funds from Germany?
A comment...I find it difficult to accept that a delivery of these funds would be done in spite. Except for some leaders, who are steps above the rest of us on the ladder of morality, I like to think most people would find a way if to not outright delay the transfer then hobble it's happening quickly. Iran wants cash? Mark the bills so that they are traceable to see where they go. We could use Eric Holder to devise an airtight strategy for tracking. He has shovel ready experience. Have the US citizens who were awarded an enormous amount of money in the courts years ago in a lawsuit against Iran, which they won, and were stiffed by the greatest thing since sliced bread when he caused $1.5 billion in bills, not a leakable and traceable, electronic transfer, to be flown to Iran in the dead of night, re-file a lawsuit to freeze that money. They would have to move quickly, of course.
The clencher, IF there's a will there's a way.

The "Free Beacon" is a neocon clown car. Goldfarb, Continetti and the rest of circus wouldn't know real news if it spat on them.
