Popular Mechanics: The 'Raider' Is an Offroad Scooter for Soldiers

The EZRaider looks like a cross between a jetski and a giant skateboard.

U.S. military forces are testing a new, lightweight one-person electric vehicle. The DSRaider all-terrain vehicle has the advantages of traditional ATVs in a smaller, more compact package. Ridden upright like a Segway and capable of carrying more than three hundred pounds across rough terrain, the DSRaider is aimed at soldiers, first responders, and outdoorsmen.

I dont see how this is anymore practical than a 4 wheeler. If anything, it seems less practical. Its slim profile does not allow alot of room for batteries. In a typical 4 wheeler design, you could easily fit more batteries. More batteries means further travel between charges. I would also assume you could get more carry weight out of a 4 wheeler design. Possibly allowing for a 50 cal mounted attachment for the 2nd soldier. It would be just as quiet, go further, be more lethal, and carry more.
