Organised religion is often weird and causes a lot of harm. Think about it. .you form "clubs" of members with different "ranks" to chant lyrics at a deity, based on writings and thousands year old hearsay and in hope to either have your sins forgiven or for a nicer life (there's ofc other reasons to pray and it simplifies things a bit, but those are certainly among the main reasons.. ie give me something in return for prayers..).. why not just -be- a better person? Don't kill animals for your food source perhaps or because you like the taste of bacon in xyz or like halal lamb mixed in your falaffel.. that to me makes a big difference in who you are as a being. Not if you get up at 5am to pray for a nicer life. Just f*cking don't kill for your freaking burger or halal meat. But no. .that is too much to ask for and/or in some cases murder of animals is justified because of those religious texts. Nothing wrong with murder of billions of animals every year and forcing them into a horrendous industriaized life and murder that remind of Auschwitz so you don't have to give up bacon or halal meat. And then call yourself a moral person because you pray or put on a robe and do a pilgrimage. Ffs give me a break. If you claim to be a good person stop stuffing your face and guts with meat ffs. Try that for a week and then try it for a month and then try it for a year and then try it for a decade and then go talk to me about religion. Not before.
