President Trump Tweets On South Africa's Land Seizures And On The Murder Of Hundreds Of White Farmers

Wall Street Journal: Trump Tweet on South African Land Reform Draws Government’s Ire

Rand falls after Trump says U.S. is looking at South Africa's efforts to overhaul land ownership

JOHANNESBURG—South Africa’s government on Thursday criticized a tweet by President Donald Trump in which he said he asked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to study efforts to overhaul land ownership and “large scale killing of farmers” in Africa’s most-developed economy.

Mr. Trump’s overnight tweet referenced a report by Fox News host Tucker Carlson attacking the U.S. government’s stance on land reform in South Africa, which he suggested was too lax.

South Africa’s rand fell against the dollar after the tweet, and was 1.3% lower in Thursday morning trade.

The ruling African National Congress has said it plans to change the constitution to explicitly allow the expropriation of land without compensation in an effort to overcome deep inequalities in land ownership the country, which shed white-minority rule in 1994. White South Africans, who make up around 8% of the country’s population, still own 73% of agricultural land, according to estimates from farmers association Agri SA.

WNU Editor: I am old enough to remember when Zimbabwe President Mugabe green-lighted the seizure of white farms and his reaction (and the reaction among his media allies in the West like the Independent) to those who opposed his measures. I am now seeing on the news and reading on the web the exact same language used by the South African government (and their media allies in the West) to condemn reaction to their policy of seizing white farms . I do not care what a person's ethnic background is. Ethnic cleansing is ethnic cleansing, and should be condemn universally when it happens, and it is now happening in South Africa.

It's good to know that our dips$%t president bases his foreign and domestic policy by what he saw on the TEE VEE, Fox news.

We live in the dumbest times.

Cue rubes and MAGA chuds whining about MSM.

Chase, that's been happening for years in apartheid Israel

Both Dems and R's in congress are fine with it because backing anything Israel says is good for job security.

Get outside, go for a walk, it'll do you good.

The government of South Africa and Islamic terrorists such as Hamas, etc who are attacking Israel seem to be very similar. I note "seem to be." Were it not for this blog highlighting the limited coverage the South African situation is receiving in the media I might not even know that it is happening. Given the limited coverage, we might not know the true situation in South Africa.

In contrast to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, pro Palestinian coverage in the media is extensive. They can't really highlight as this would blow the coverage off of everyone's favorite special group, the Palestinians.

What is probably needed is to cut all aid to the Palestinians or at least make it highly conditional much like the kind of aid Israel receives. It would also probably help to place less restrictions on Israel as to how the use the aid we send them. This would probably save the American taxpayer money as the Israelis would likely be more effective with less money from us and their security would be enhanced.

In the face of genocidal psychopaths, Israel organized a military and is fighting back. Will white South Africans do the same? Can they do the same? At the end of the day, while a tweet or more by POTUS may help to bring light to the situation, there is probably little to nothing that America can do that is actually going to alter the situation on the ground. If it is warranted, we could consider asylum for these people but this is probably about all we can do.

About time. Clearly stated American values by a US President still counts in the world. Ethnic cleansing unfortunately is an African habit, see Tutsi and Hutu's for samples. America has stood for racial justice for awhile now, more so than many other countries have ever done. These South African leaders are proving just as evil as the Afrikaner's they replaced. They should be treated the same should this fester.

Iv'e read Swedish state-media and "experts" making a mockery of this tweet and says that the SA government does not do these things.

What is wrong with the establishment?
How can I, a simple man from the northern parts of Sweden, know more then journalists and these so called "experts"? I've seen and read numerous reports of SA farmers being brutalized, raped and murdered just for being a white farmer. There is a reason why Ross Kemp went to SA and visited the police force for his TV series "Extreme". By the way, I think that WNU editor has already posted an article here that explains that some people already have lost their farms due to this "land seizure" thing. It's no longer a question of "if". It's happening as we speak. So why is everyone ignoring it and purposely lying about it?

I think that if Trump had tweeted a congratulation to the SA government for its implantation of these land seizures, the headlines would be the exact opposite, condemning Trump AND the SA government.

What a retarded, backwards, hypocrite and adolescent world we live in.

Of course, nobody knows the British imperial history behind the origin of these white farms. Africans undoubtedly do know that history and have been trying to grapple with what they see as a historical injustice. Until you know what they know, you should keep your mouth shut.

As a white South African I'm very happy that other countries get to learn more about what is happening in my country. Thank you WNU for putting it out there.

All I ask from everyone is to pray for my country to stop seeing the skin colour of each other and forget about what happened in the past. Which I and the people my age didn't have anything to do with but we are suffering the consequences.

God bless
