The Guardian: Suspected Russian spy found working at US embassy in Moscow
Exclusive: Russian is understood to have had full access to secret data during decade at embassy.
US counter-intelligence investigators discovered a suspected Russian spy had been working undetected in the heart of the American embassy in Moscow for more than a decade, the Guardian has learned.
The Russian national had been hired by the US Secret Service and is understood to have had access to the agency’s intranet and email systems, which gave her a potential window into highly confidential material including the schedules of the president and vice-president.
The woman had been working for the Secret Service for years before she came under suspicion in 2016 during a routine security sweep conducted by two investigators from the US Department of State’s Regional Security Office (RSO).

WNU Editor: Trying to get the Mueller Counsel to investigate this is a stretch. She worked at the embassy for ten years and was terminated in 2017. But what perplexes me about this case is that the embassy permitted a Russian national unfettered access to their internal classified communications for such a long period of time. My gut tells me that there is more to this story than what they are telling us.

The Secret Service, in a statement acknowledging the incident, downplayed the breach and stressed that “national security information” was never jeopardized.
“At no time, in any US Secret Service office, have (Foreign Service Nationals) been provided or placed in a position to obtain national security information,” it said.
The statement said the agency recognized that foreign nationals working for them could be subjected to foreign intelligence influence.

CYA is underway. US embassies routinely hire nationals all over the world and common sense and just a slight bit of intelligence forces one to conclude a local can’t be anywhere near embassy operations rooms nor posses devices on their persons beyond the most routine personal hygiene products. So this story is either fake news or past US ambassadors to Russia are guilty of criminal negligence in performing their duty. If the truth reflects badly on Obama I don’t expect much aggressive reporting.
