The U.S. - China Trade War Is Escalating

VOA: China Lashes Out as Retaliatory Moves Fail to Stop Trump Trade Actions

BEIJING — Chinese state media are reacting to U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade actions against China in diverse ways. While denouncing the U.S. leader’s actions, Beijing is also using its media to calm markets and express concern about the impact on the Chinese economy.

An editorial in the Communist Party's People's Daily said that by raising tariffs and then offering negotiations, the Trump administration is trying to use "carrot-and-stick diplomacy to bully China into unilateral trade concessions." The paper went on to say "China will eventually defeat the trade blackmail of the U.S. and it is impossible to force China into surrender to the U.S. coercion."

However, a Chinese senior official attached to the country’s Supreme Court recently expressed worry that the trade friction with the U.S. would result in bankruptcies for state-owned companies.

The experts are probably on retainer for the CCP. Seeing the stories of Sen Diana Feinstein cozy relationship with a Chinese spy, her husband developing vast financial investments in China starting with her 1992 election to the Senate, one has to wonder how deep China’s corruptions have spread in US media, lobbyists, govt officiaLS including the FBI and CIA, think tanks and of course businesses. My guess is it’s of serious ocncern.

If the trade war was made by Obama all the media's would say, as Stalin did at the worse time, "We are flying from victory to victory".
Of course a trade war is a long way, and of course there will be casualties as in any war, but China is still a subcontractor of the West. US can buy the same products somewhere else (and this has already started), China has not the same choice. China devaluation of its money is two hedges sword: first the cost for American consumer is less, and second China is paying its imports from oil to European's or American's products more expensive.
I have a hard time to see China winning this game. China will not be bankrupt, but the communist power could have big or huge problems with its population.

Jac,

Jac, agreed. The Chinese population has increased expectations now. The government has been fueling those expectations by spending lot's of $$$.
China does not have a monopoly on manufacturing. Anyone can easily learn to run most machines, I should think. Their population is too large for their arable land and they must import foodstuffs of a nature above a bowl of rice and small amounts of other edibles that were tolerated in the past. Those days are gone and the government has to keep feeding the expectations it has created or face the consequences.
That's what I think and read.
