U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton: 'China, Iran, North Korean And Russia' Could Interfere In U.S. Midterm Elections

CNBC: National security advisor John Bolton warns of electoral interference from China, Iran and North Korea — not just Russia

* "I can say definitively that it's a sufficient national security concern about Chinese meddling, Iranian meddling and North Korean meddling that we're taking steps to try to prevent it," Bolton told ABC's "This Week."
* President Donald Trump suggested Saturday that those investigating Russia's role in U.S. politics should broaden their scrutiny to Beijing.
* Bolton also said he is confident that he and his Russian counterpart will discuss the Kremlin's election prying during a meeting later this week.

National Security Advisor John Bolton said on Sunday that the U.S. government is not just worried about Russian interference in the 2018 midterm elections, but efforts from China, Iran and North Korea as well.

With Russia's actions in the 2016 election still a raging controversy, and amid fears that Moscow is still attempting to subvert the U.S. political process, Bolton issued a warning about America's other geopolitical adversaries.

"I can say definitively that it's a sufficient national security concern about Chinese meddling, Iranian meddling and North Korean meddling that we're taking steps to try to prevent it," Bolton said on ABC's "This Week."

After nearly 2 years and daily use of the phrase Russian hacking by the media, I still don't actually know what this interference is/was. If it was hacking of the ill protected DNC and the Clinton crime group's computers, I say give whoever a medal for the exposure.
I'm of the opinion an unbiased and investigative media is hard to defeat with falsehoods. We haven't that now.
I'm also certain we're no gilded lilies of righteousness.

Roger,

To the best I can tell no one actually knows or at least they aren't saying. It's long past time for these people to either put up or shut up. Since they don't have the goods or we would have seen it by now, it is clearly long past time for them to shut up, go away, and leave the rest of us alone.

Furthermore these wild and reckless allegations are a hindrance to a very important diplomatic outreach with a very powerful and influential country. Wild and reckless allegations simply aren't a method for winning friends and influencing people.

They taking what is already a very tense situation with Cold War 2 and they are doing the equivalent of dousing it with gasoline and lighting a match to it. They haven't provided the evidence for why they are doing this. Given the severity of this and the danger involved, normal people who are stable and focused present the evidence for such claims in full BEFORE taking such actions. Given the fact that the people making the accusations don't exactly have a good track record, it is even more imperative that they present all of their evidence in full which it would be imperative for ANYONE advocating such actions as they have.

The mental health professions has names for people who behave in this manner. They are typically called psychopaths or sociopaths. As far as I can tell, this nonsense started with HRC's presidential campaign when she began to whine about Russian interference and how Trump was a Russian puppet because she was losing.

I'm reminded of an incident during the war against Serbia in the 1990s. As I recall, then head of NATO Javier Solana wanted British general Mike Jackson to bomb an airport that had been taken over by the Russians. His classic, very prudent, and accurate response was "I'm sorry sir I won't start the third world war for you."

This is what needs to happen now. Essentially patriotic leaders need to stand up to these people and explain the following. "You ask us to exacerbate Cold War 2. You provide no reason for this except 'trust us" and with your poor track records this simply isn't good enough. The problem with cold wars is they risk becoming hot wars and when you exacerbate it you exponentially increase the risk of it becoming hot. We are terribly sorry for you but we won't do this for you. The preservation of your political careers simply isn't worth this risk. Please go away from us and leave us alone. Furthermore your idiocy is interfering with a very important diplomatic initiatives. Again, we state unequivocally it is time for all of you to go away and allow us to live in peace."
