BAGHDAD: Three mortar shells landed inside Baghdad’s heavily fortified Green Zone just after midnight local time on Friday, the Iraqi military said in a statement.
The mortars landed on an “abandoned lot,” resulting in “no casualties or physical damage,” the statement said.
A security source inside the Green Zone said the mortars landed near the Egyptian embassy.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, which comes after days of intensifying protests in Iraq’s southern oil hub city of Basra.

I saw this news overnight, West Coast California time. What we have here is Sunni's and Iran backed Shiites getting it on once again. As Carl should know this has been going on for hundreds of years before the USA came into being.
The US has about 2000 combat troops in Iraq, Iran wants a servile Iraq as part of their drive to unite Lebanon, Syria, Iraq into a Iranian led empire, a new Persian Empire. Fortunately the US is led by someone who is smart, has a sound strategy that advances US interests and is led by able people. None of that was true when the last president was in office, no better Manchurian Candidate could be created than Obama.
