China About To Mass Produce It's J-20 Stealth Fighter

SCMP: China ‘nearing mass production’ of J-20 stealth fighter after engine problems ironed out

Improved power train will give Chinese jet ability to fly undetected at supersonic speeds, on par with United States’ F-35

A new and improved engine designed to make China’s J-20 stealth fighter a world-class combat jet should be ready for mass production by the end of the year, military sources have said.

The WS-15 engine features cutting-edge single-crystal turbine blades and has been in development for several years, but Chinese technicians have struggled to get it into mass production.

However, many of the problems – which largely related to blades overheating at top speeds – have been ironed out in ground tests and trial flights, putting the goal of a consistently high quality product in sight, sources told the South China Morning Post.

Beijing is keen to have a stealth aircraft capable of competing with the best in the world as tensions rise in the Asia-Pacific and the United States ramps up deployment of its F-22 and F-35 fighters in the region.

WNU Editor: Wow. If true it did not take them that long to work out the kinks in their engines.

Spying pays off big time for China

I still have a hard time to think this jet is as "stealthy" as a F35 or even more as a F22. Little in radar and none in infrared.

Jac just because it took American companies decades odd research doesn't mean china can't steal the recipe and start suddenly mass producing overnight. The threat is real. If China can continue to steal without consequences then they are the smarter ones. Why spend billions and billions on research if there's no consequences whatsoever on theft?

Anon,
I agree with you with your logic. But when I see the "geometry" of this plane, the exhaust of the jet engine, I think a little bit differently. Still, you are 100% right for the J-31 which is "perfectly" copied from our design, not the J-20. It will be interesting to see how China have the same mass production luck with the J-31. F-22 & F-35 and SU-57 are hugely expensive to produce, I would be surprised China would have not this problem.

Anon the consequence of not stealing technology is perhaps worse as you can bankrupt your country if you go from scratch on everything and that is how they deal with "the threat".

I recall that to gain entry into a Chinese market and labor force Boeing gave the Chinese details on a jet liner whose ID I don't immediately recall. It was a Boeing plane that fills a need for city to city travel and is used in America and I suppose other countries. Boeing got Chinese labor and parts manufacturing for Boeing's current intercontinental model and the Chinese training and other knowledge.
I'm sure they learned something here and from hacking. And, of course, applied this knowledge. It seemed a questionable decision at the time but this was how Boeing kept costs down and the price they paid.

A consequences of not stealing technology is that you live peacefully, engage in fair trade, etc.

First comment I've seen from Bob in a long time and he sticks up for China.

Says it all.

Anon, what says it all is your inane comment.

Bob,

Yo set up a false dichotomy strawman.

That is the issue. It revealed everything there is to know about your politics, integrity and rhetorical ability.

But hey, you cannot support a woman, so we already knew you have very little ability.

Bob,

Canada has single payer. Find out why you won't marry your GF

See why you have commitment issues or is it your pocket book.

You are delusional Smith/Anon/whatever. Your true self has come out. I know why I won't marry my girl friend and if you had been paying attention you would know too.
