Chinese Presdient Xi Says The Trade War Will Push China To Rely On Itself

SCMP: Xi Jinping says trade war pushes China to rely on itself and ‘that’s not a bad thing’

Factory workers and farmers in China’s rust belt first to hear how the country will respond to rising protectionism.

Chinese President Xi Jinping says rising “unilateralism and protectionism” is forcing China to rely more on itself for development and “it’s not a bad thing”, reflecting a determination to fight a protracted trade war with the US if necessary.

Xi, the most powerful Chinese leader in decades, said it was time for China to cut its dependence on foreign technologies and others in his first clear statement on how China would cope with the trade war.

Speaking from one of China’s biggest state-owned factories, Xi emphasised the value of self-reliance, according to People’s Daily, the mouthpiece of the ruling Communist Party.

WNU Editor: Chinese President Xi is trying to paint an optimistic picture. But bottom line .... the competitive advantages that China has had in pushing its exports are now coming to an end, and the economic growth that China has known in the past two decades is coming to an end.

But but China so smart and greatest supernation uberpower of universe. .how come all our neighbours hate them and Chinese didn't see it coming --after bullying them for years?

So smart people. Panda power. Wini pooh...

I think xi, after this massive embarrassment and failure, both on monetary and foreign policy issues, will not be a life long emperor. .well. .He might fall ill all of a sudden.. the knives are surely out for him after losing a good trillion in market and an addional half trillion in trade balance surplus with the US lol

Smart guys

Highly recommend reading comment section of the south China post.. the Chinese are completely misinformed (as I predicted) about the state of things. .they think their economy is great and that the US dollar will tank in 2 weeks haha
But their racism is just as powerful as ours

Responding to the above anons:

I took my wife to see "Crazy Rich Asians" tonight. A light comedy centered on romance.

The movie perfectly encapsulates the arrogance of the Chinese. The near Caste system in which they live. The snobbery, bigotry and outright racism of Chinese people to those outside their bubble. Especially other Asians.

Sort of "Sex and the City" meets "Big Fat Greek Wedding", meets "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" Throw in a little "Mississippi Burning"".

We all live in tribes. This goes back to evolutionary times. You are Man, American, White, Catholic, College educated, married...you tend to stick and vote with your tribe. Sometimes conflict: Woman, Conservative GOP...how to deal with Kavanaugh issue?

Women all want the same thing

Parameters might be a bit different as to savings rate or whether to have one more or one less kid, but they all want the same thing

Food, language, etc is all window dressing.

Fully agree with above statements. .I don't mean to say Chinese are more or less racist. Just their misinformation and propaganda reminds me about Germany in the 1940s..same ambitions..similar propaganda. .similar territorial claims. .similar arms buildup...similar lifetime emperor etc

On another topic, did anyone notice that Xi appears to be on a platform in this picture? The growers are quite deep in their crop. Not so Xi and his entourage. I don't think they are standing on a dividing berm separating planted areas for flood irrigating purposes. Maybe so?

Roger,
I did. I would love to know who rates shoes that you can't see. My guess is the two guys with Xi, also dressed like him.
