CNN: Ford wants FBI investigation before testifying
The woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault says the FBI should investigate the incident before senators hold a hearing on the allegations.
In a letter addressed to Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley of Iowa, and obtained by CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360," Christine Blasey Ford's attorneys argue that "a full investigation by law enforcement officials will ensure that the crucial facts and witnesses in this matter are assessed in a non-partisan manner, and that the Committee is fully informed before conducting any hearing or making any decisions."

WNU Editor: I have avoided this story since it broke out, but a few readers have asked for my opinion, so here it is. I asked a very close friend who was sexually assaulted when she was young on what was her take on this case .... especially Christine Blasey Ford's statment that she does not remember the date/year, home, street, etc. on when this alleged assault occurred. My friend's answer .... in her case she does not only know the exact date and location .... but also the exact time during the day when she was raped. And from what she learned through counseling and hearing stories of other rape victims .... everyone who goes through that type of experience will remember every detail as if it happened yesterday. Is Christine Blasey Ford an exception to this rule .... who knows. But no one has corroborated her accusations .... in fact .... the opposite has happened. Her decision to not testify unless an FBI investigation is conducted also does not surprise me. She clearly has no proof, and hopes that an FBI investigation will find something. But an FBI investigation will take months to be completed .... if not more .... and I sincerely doubt that they will find anything. So why send a letter to Senator Feinstein in the first place to get this whole thing going? Is this all about revenge .... to get back at Judge Kavanaugh's mother who was the judge who presided over the foreclosure of her parent's home? Why the drama of not showing up when you now have an audience who wants to hear your case and who sincerely want to know why you see yourself as a victim of an assault. Your guess is as good as mine, and for all I know this narrative may change tomorrow. Unfortunately for Judge Kavanaugh the damage to his reputation and harm to his family has already been done, and this cloud will always be over his head.

This kind of "denunciation" remind me the very dark time of the Nazi of French occupation. My parents told me that anyone who to get rid of a neighbor could make this kind of dirt. Sad the Democrat's are falling in this way.
That this woman or anyone can claim anything and get away with it with little or no risk while the accused can end up losing everything even if judged not guilty is not acceptable. Tyrants such as Mueller are virtually playing risk free. It is a lose lose situation for the accused and it is played to the hilt shamelessly.
And what irritates me to death is the alleged adults in the government talk their talk with their fellow suits and try to project an image of concern and righteousness about something that doesn't mean a damn to them but in reality is simply a tool to get their legislative way.
This is as low a point in this country's ethical history as I have ever experienced. It points out a grave flaw in our legal system when anything that can pass as a human being is allowed to create such a situation.

I would agree with wnu. I was robbed once and I remember the details pretty much, the time of the day for sure, the exact location and how it went down etc. It's been nearly 3 decades and I remember it like yesterday.
Am I the only one who thinks that we're entering a new time in which ideologically motivated women try to get rid of men they oppose? It's frightening that women don't see any or almost no punishment for basically ruining a man's honorable life and reputation. Apparently something happened to Ford but all her actions are more reflective of someone who was involved in a crime and wants to use this as an opportunity to get rid of someone she opposes politically. Why is a sexual incident among teens 36 years ago worse than what she might be doing today? All under the veil of womanhood/victim hood. I'm so sick and tired of this equality nonsense when women clearly wage a war against men and act in the most outrageous sexist ways. Not saying Ford is doing that. ..but the line of outrageous opportunists and sexists on the female side is incredibly long.
What if the roles were revered?
Imagine a female judge a lot of men are opposed against.. then one day some man comes forward and says he is a former highschool mate. and he alleges the female candidate did something 36 years ago and he was so troubled by it, he first wants the FBI to investigate (which makes no sense as after 36 years nothing can be done)... OF COURSE IT'S BS. OF COURSE NO ONE WOULD BELIEVE HIM. But, as it is a woman, we accept it. 36 years ago you say? Right on, I will put my magic FBI cap on and then find "evidence" beyond reasonable doubt. Are you kidding me?? She doesn't even testify. She gets to smear a family man's reputation and no consequences. Because equality. Yeah, right

slow down, cowboy: He said NO. She said Yes. finally, Congress agrees to get them to swear under oath. Every prosecutor consulted on tv about this said the FBI needs to do check on her story. You can get those who would have been present etc. Not to have FBI check is simply to say ok we believe him and not her. There is evidence now that he skirts the truth in his testimony thus far. There is clear evidence that the GOP will not release many of his records for public scrutiny. In so important an appointment, full investigation is required. Yes. It might take some time but that is better than ramming it through to get your person in place. In passing: not to have this investigated will cost the GOP many many votes in forthcoming elections, and that is what I am hearing from women.
Either she is a liar or he is. There is but one way to find out...and you would dismiss this?
The FBI in this instance would be a Trump appointment. Sen Grassley has rejected the call for FBI investigation.

The whole point is to make an allegation which is not disprovable. Since this woman cannot remember where, when, or exactly who was involved how can any of it be answered. It is open ended like this for maximum media/political time.

FBI check is for a federal crime. There was no federal crime committed. Actually no crime was committed there no evidence of it. I think by today just a guess if she does not swear under oath and testify under congress this is done.

The notion that she would not be able to recall the full details of the incident while perhaps not impossible is highly improbable. For example, there is a mathematical chance that one could win the lottery seven times in one lifetime, just not a very good one. As such, her claims here should be dismissed out of hand. Like the editor, I know of no one who is a victim of such a crime that cannot recall full details.
It appears the idea is to make an allegation that the accused cannot disprove. The accused cannot disprove it therefore the accused stands guilty as charged. This has been the nature for this type of crime for sometime. We just generally have not been so public about it.
Now as to his testimony being truthful with regards to legal issues that can be proven or disproven based upon available evidence or which records to release are reasonable questions. This is where the focus should be. Unfortunately by giving credence to Ms. Ford this is just further evidence of what an unserious country we have become.
The President can order an FBI check if he wanted to. period. Vetting someone is routine.
