Task & Purpose/L.A. Times: Pentagon Sends Reinforcements To Remote Syria Base After Russia Threatens Attack

More than 100 U.S. Marines were sent as reinforcements to a remote coalition outpost in southern Syria on Friday after Russia threatened to attack militants in the area, the Pentagon said.

The troops were flown by helicopter to the base at Tanf — a small town near Syria’s borders with Iraq and Jordan. The base is used by U.S. special forces to train Syrian fighters who are confronting Islamic State militants.

They'll make good targets for Russian cruise missiles. Then Iranian/Iraqi militias can come and mop up.

The Russian in Syria make good cruise missile bait.

"-US Intel Officials Made Secret Trip To Damascus For Talks With Assad Advisor"

They did not bring Nancy Pelosi to meet Assad again, so she could slobber all over him, again?

No wonder the old girl is mad at Trump!

Putin's approval rating is falling. In part due to the conflicts in which Putin has involved Russians. Russian polls confirm this.
The Wagner group's amateurish debacle should be kept in mind.
There is no diplomatic or military reason to experience a shoot out with the US on an obscure section of Syria that is being cleared of islamists by the US and others and which is off limits to Russian and Syrian forces by prior agreement with the US.
Putin understands that Mattis and Trump are not kerry and the great nothing.
