The only reason China has become such a significant military and economic threat to the West recently is because of the unfettered trade relationship China has had with us up until now, along with the lack of a crackdown on their incredible intellectual property theft. China is going to continue to be a significant problem on many levels, so disempowering them in the trade arena is essential in the short and long term future. The best thing we can do is to begin taking our current economic activities to the other SE Asian countries that are currently being threatened by China, and empower them as a counter to Chinese power in the region so that they can deter China in the coming years. China is a communist state that now has a life-term communist leader who's legitimacy comes from all the rewards of its capitalist hybrid command economy model. If this plug is removed then China's bellicose activities will be mostly focused inward on preservation of the state, and will become less of an issue for everyone that its current course toward regional hegemon.
US Businesses Warn "Reckoning Is Coming" If Trump Moves Ahead With $200BN China Tariffs
Mexico with new trade deal in place should be licking its chops right now!
These actions would have been unthinkable to Obama or Bush. Wouldn't want Chancellor Merkel disapproval. Wouldn't want the tech-finance-Goldman Sachs future employers pissed off. The only reason Trump can get away with this is because he isn't in the pocket of those economic predators in the USA. All of them beneficiaries of low cost HIB visas to pump up profits and deflate wages. Bernie Sanders knows it too and that Hillary was bought and owned by the tech-finance-Goldman Sachs predators.
I hope Trump stays engaged, gets a bigger House and Senate GOP majorities and fights China's depredations for the next 6 years.
