A much more likely scenario is the dopey Syrian SAM operators have shot down the Russians in an attempt to destroy the Israeli F-16's. Somebody is gonna fry over this. Thoughts and prayers go to the families of the 14 Russian families who will now be mourning their dead.

Russia has confirmed Syrians shot it down but blame israel as the f16 pilots were using the Russian plane as a shield.
Business as usual, ho hum.

Russia confirmed that it was a deliberate act and Israel was to blame. Not sure what crap you're reading.

First guy was correct, poorly trained Syrian SAM operator shot down the IL20. Coincidentally the IL20 is a recce/anti-sub platform that probably saw the Israeli jets well before they launched yet didn't get out of the way. The fault is on the Russians themselves for not properly training their puppets SAM crews to use their product and for the IL20 remaining in the area though they knew an attack was in progress. Quick question why was the IL20 there in the first place, what was its mission, did they know in advance the Israelis and possibly the French were going to launch a mission, hmmmmmmmm??
