Top U.S. General: U.S. Has Military Options If Syria Uses Chemical Weapons

Reuters: U.S. military drawing up options should Syria use chemical weapons

America’s top general on Saturday said he was involved in “routine dialogue” with the White House about military options should Syria ignore U.S. warnings against using chemical weapons in an expected assault on the enclave of Idlib.

Marine General Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said no decision had been made by the United States to employ military force in response to a future chemical attack in Syria.

“But we are in a dialogue, a routine dialogue, with the president to make sure he knows where we are with regard to planning in the event that chemical weapons are used,” he told a small group of reporters during a trip to India. Dunford later added: “He expects us to have military options and we have provided updates to him on the development of those military options.”

Well, the problem for Assad and his allied is Turkey. And that's a big one. Erdogan, who is always equal with himself, will not back down and the risk of a direct clash with one of its opponent is real. Turkey is a NATO member and could use the 5th of the treaty. This would be a disaster for Syria and Iran. Not Russia because Putin will always find an excuse for going out of this hell.

NATO ARTICLE 5 has no standing. It’s only good when a member is attacked without provocation. In this case Turkey invaded Syria and holds their territory. Turkey can’t afford the costs to deal with a Syrian war. The US won’t help them in a war by conducting strikes of its own. Truth is Russia can do what they want and the question is how long can the jihadis hold out and what cost to Assad and Putin. I say get some popcorn because a lot of really bad people could be killing each other in very large numbers.

"Yeah limited by the number of cruise missiles that u.s assets have available"

It is a true statement.

One can come to that conclusion via inductive reasoning/logic.

You should hesitate to use inductive logic, because a liberal will accuse you of racism. They will try to get you fired and make you a street person with all that entails in life expectancy or put you on the lowest rung of welfare.

Because if you used inductive logic here, what other spheres of life might you have used inductive logic?

See using inductive logic makes you an Enemy of the (liberal) State.
