CNN: US officials secretly met with Venezuelan military officers plotting a coup against Maduro
Washington (CNN)US officials met secretly with Venezuelan military officers who were plotting a coup against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, both a current and a former US official confirmed to CNN.
American officials met with the renegade Venezuelan military officers several times over the last year after the Venezuelan officers made contact, but Washington ultimately decided against supporting the coup, the two sources said.
The US did not provide the Venezuelan officers with any support and the plans for the coup ultimately fell apart, the sources said.

WNU Editor: This is not the first time that reports of the U.S. wanting to see Venezuelan President Maduro's government gone have been made public. But this case is different .... it involves Venezuelan military officers meeting with U.S. officials and asking for help. According to the New York Times, the coup plotters wanted encrypted radios from the U.S., but the White House decided to not go ahead. I would love to know who made that decision, and why. My guess is that it was President Trump. As this blog has mentioned before. If you break it, you own it. A U.S. supported coup in Venezuela would mean U.S. aid and support would have to follow. But with the country now in a total shambles .... owing tens of billions of dollars to foreign governments (China and Russia), and an infrastructure that has all but collapsed. The prospect of then become financially responsible for this disaster (an amount that is easily over hundred billion) is simply asking too much. Bottom line. This is something that the Venezuelan people themselves will need to sort out, with help from their neighbors.

Agreed. I truly think Obama wanted to be a good president, but his foreign policy was a mess and republicans were blamed for 100% of his internal failures, such as leaving an incredibly divided country - which started under him and the way the press treated him and his associates eg Clinton. People don't appreciate having two legal and moral systems -one that gives liberals and Democrats a pass for the most outrageous things - and all on top while being called bigots, racists, and having a "smell" to them. Just how far can you go in calling a group every name in the book until you are no longer surprised about retaliation?
When will the left wake up and see you can only push so far until you create enemies? That's part of Obama's legacy... the doctrine of "the other half of the country is just fly over and a bunch of backwards people who grip their guns and bibles" like wtf and the press applauded.

My advice is to let Fred just be. Some people will never wake up to what their own side is doing and will just keep on saluting.
