David P. Goldman, Asia Times: China seeks framework for November deal with Trump
Beijing may be ready to trade short-term concessions and bide its time until it is far and away the world’s largest economy
Ahead of a possible meeting next month between US President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, the White House tempered any optimism that a trade truce with Beijing is imminent when top economic advisor Larry Kudlow accused China on Sunday of doing “nothing” to defuse trade tensions.
But some Chinese officials and government advisers recently emphasized that China will show patience in addressing American trade demands, postponing if necessary some of its plans to become self-sufficient in high-tech industry.

WNU Editor: My Chinese friends are saying the same thing .... Beijing may be ready to trade short-term concessions and bide its time until it is far and away the world’s largest economy. What's my take. Chinese President Xi underestimated President Trump, and I am willing to wager that he never thought that President Trump would be serious on raising tariffs. But President Trump did, and in turn President Xi has "lost face". So President Xi now has a choice .... to continue the same policy and to lose more face, or make a deal. My prediction .... I expect a deal to be announced in the coming months. If not .... President Xi may be preparing something drastic to assert Chinese power and influence, and that scares me.

My take: China is not ready for curbing America. Chinese's Have "the eternity" with them, and they will make an agreement just for waiting the next President.
Wnu : Chinese gdp is now less than half the size of US gdp, has massive debts, an aging population and has to pay trillions in reparations to the EU and US for decades of IP, industry and copyright theft.
On top, as you posted yourself, satellite data estimates China inflated their gdp by up to 30%. This would mean that China needs ten times more people to achieve twice the gdp of Germany haha common and Germans have like what 35 holidays a year and the cleanest streets and cleanest air you will ever see (I know you've been to China - as have I many times - so you know what I'm talking about)
Let's be real for a moment.
The biggest mistake the West makes is to overestimate china's hand and believe in this Chinese myth.
Instead of China overtaking the US - as was announced on cnn for nearly 20 years day in and out, China has slowed down and managed to piss off all its neighbours..
Trump's greatest strength - and history will show this - is to cut through the noise and BS and see things for what they are
Despite all the goodwill we have offered to China, despite all our incompetent leaders for nearly 5 decades, despite their clear numeric advantage in people, China is no America. China cannot even outcompete the EU.
So let's stop this nonsense. China is not doing sh**t and not going anywhere.
What we should do is get behind Trump. He is literally rewriting history and it's amazing to watch.
And we (EU, US, but also all of our allies like Japan and Australia) are much much much larger combined than China. And we do it without concentration camps and tyranny.
So common. The China myth is over.
It would appear that China has lost some of their standing in the world because of prior behavior. I think there is a greater understanding of China amongst those countries that have pulled back from China's self-serving deals such as their silk road revival, the debt entrapment, and a more clear view of them because of the Uhiger situation and South China Sea territory grab.
This is why I think they will back off for awhile. Two moves forward, one back is still progress. Thus I feel there will be nothing beyond the verbal level for some time.
If I was Trump I'd let them wait longer until a deal is put on the table. China's markets have already contracted by 20%!!! On the other side, US has expanded and dramatically so. The emperor's clothes were fake and the idiots in the media looked at the shiny skyscrapers and ignored all the rest. can you imagine what Trump could do if the western media wouldn't manipulate and stifle him so much? Get behind this guy - your children and even children's children will thank you
To the other anon. Almost correct but China actually has 20 times the population of Germany. So they are even worse than you said haha
Trump isn’t motivated for a deal, any deal slows his American manufacturing renewal. Maximum pressure is the key for him. China needs the USA more than the USA needs China. So max pressure. Will China lash out and invade Taiwan to get their gold reserves?
I agree, no need to rush for a deal. Need to wait for awhile as other strategic items on the table.
