Japanese Prime Minister Abe In China For Talks With Chinese President Xi

SCMP: China invites Japan along belt and road as Shinzo Abe makes landmark trip to Beijing

* Japanese prime minister pledges to elevate bilateral relationship to a ‘new dimension’
* Beijing and Tokyo must work together as ‘problems that cannot be resolved by one country alone multiply’

Li made the offer in a meeting with Shinzo Abe, the first Japanese prime minister to visit China in seven years.

WNU Editor: Sorry, but this has nothing to do with President Trump .... Donald Trump's unconventional diplomacy is pushing China and Japan closer together (CNN). China and Japan are the second and third largest economies in the world, and they are a few hundred miles apart. But both countries have tariffs and barriers to conducting trade that would make President Trump's tariffs and barriers small and insignificant in comparison. Japanese Prime Minister Abe is the one who initiated these talks, and the primary purpose of this trip is to sign deals and look for common ground when it comes to trade. My prediction .... a number of deals will be signed, but most barriers will still remain. As for other discussions .... boundary disputes will still remain unresolved, the military buildup that concerns both countries will still continue, and China will not help Japan when it comes to opening a dialogue with North Korea.
