Washington Times: NSA leaker Snowden: I'm not safe in Russia

'Does it matter? I didn't come forward to be safe.'

Edward Snowden has raised concerns regarding his safety in Russia, where the former U.S. intelligence contractor has resided for over five years in the wake of leaking classified National Security Agency documents.

“As for the future in Russia and what will happen there, I can’t say I’m safe. I don’t know” Mr. Snowden said Thursday during an address telecast to a crowd in Austria.

“But the real question is: Does it matter?” the NSA leaker added. “I didn’t come forward to be safe.”

He shouldn't complain.

He's still in one piece.

What a freaking tool and crybaby. You Bastard cost the US Tax payer billions (!) and endangered multiple top secret programs. Then you flee to Russia with your babe and the leftiemedia hypes you as hero. The reason why I'm pissed about this guy is how he leaked , not that he leaked or blew the whistle, but how he did it. And now after Russians get sick of him he wants to come back. Booohhooo and no. It doesn't matter. Stop the manipulative question. You're not welcome back here.

I have mixed feelings about what he did.
Noting the administration of the prior occupant and his appointees' behavior I think of Snowden's exposures as needed. On the other hand, there are some programs that need to work behind the scenes. The drawback is the mindset of some [Brennan, Comey, etc.] and how this behind the scenes stuff has potential for great abuse.
After the prior occupant and the astounding revelations of secretive internal programs that are 1984ish, I'm more inclined than not to give him a pardon. But, as a cost of business, a national dialogue on such programs and a dialogue not to include HRC, CNN, and other unbelievables and those in a position to abuse and then benefit from that abuse.

Roger, I agree with you. But he truly could have leaked in a different manner. The way he leaked was -from my point of view- done to cause maximum damage. Which it did. It could also have killed people. And then, instead of standing proudly for what he did and accept the punishment (or reward ) and abide by the laws of his country and trust the judgment of his fellow countrymen, he ran off - very publicly so - to Russia. This is not the act of a patriot. Remember, a true patriot does not abandon his country or evade his country's laws he used to live under and benefit of his entire life. He had a great life and very very good salary for his lazy desk job work. Socrates understood this and accepted the law he lived under and shaped. Running off to Russia added insult to injury. There's other countries without extradition he could have gone to. Nicer countries. He picked Russia. That's not a patriot.
