President Trump On 60 Minutes

President Trump with correspondent Lesley Stahl at the White House. CBS News

CBS: President Trump on Christine Blasey Ford, his relationships with Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong Un and more

Lesley Stahl speaks with President Trump about a wide range of topics in his first 60 Minutes interview since taking office.

When Americans vote in next month's midterm elections, it's likely President Trump and his agenda will be motivating them as much as any candidate or local issue on the ballot.

Almost two years ago when we last interviewed then-President-Elect Trump, he seemed surprised he had won. Not that he'd ever admit that to us.

Well, when we sat down with him this past Thursday in the White House, we found him confident and boastful, as he told us he's learned on the job. He was eager to joust over the issues of the day: the economy, China and Russia and of course "fake news." But we started with very real news. The suspected murder of a Saudi journalist and the catastrophe of Hurricane Michael. Which has devastated parts of the Florida Panhandle. Claiming at least 19 lives and leaving hundreds of thousands without power across the Southeast. Michael comes on the heels of a series of super storms: Florence in the Carolinas, Maria in Puerto Rico, Harvey in Texas.

editor--you left this out from the source you use

The President talked over Lesley Stahl in a relentless blast of rhetoric that seemed more rally than interview

The one thing that came through loud and clear was that Trump remains a man of bad character who believes that the American people don't deserve straight answers and that the ends justify his means. Kavanaugh won Senate confirmation, so humiliating Christine Blasey Ford was okay.
He won't take action on climate change because doing so would cost large sums of money and the scientists cannot be trusted. Consider this revealing exchange, which exposed Trump's famous use of "people say" to support the insupportable:

Buhu, poor little Ford with her lies or fantacies. I for one do not believe a word she was saying and most republicans are very pleased with Trump.

US budget deficit expands to $779 billion in fiscal 2018 as spending surges

The federal budget deficit rose 17 percent in fiscal 2018, according to the Trump administration.
Spending jumped, and revenue only increased slightly following the GOP tax cuts.

Earlier this year, Stahl revealed a conversation she’d had with the then-candidate shortly before the interview in which he told her that he constantly railed against the “fake news” “to discredit you all and demean you all, so when you write negative stories about me, no one will believe you.”

Stahl, then, was prepared to allow someone else to undercut Trump's untrue statements: Trump himself.
