(CNN)An open letter to Senator Cory Booker:
It's nine o'clock at night, and as I watch out the window, a sheriff's car slowly drives past my home. I am grateful that they have offered to do extra patrols, as someone just posted our home address, and Rand's cell number, on the internet -- all part of a broader effort to intimidate and threaten Republican members of Congress and their families. I now keep a loaded gun by my bed. Our security systems have had to be expanded. I have never felt this way in my life.
In the last 18 months, our family has experienced violence and threats of violence at a horrifying level. I will never forget the morning of the shooting at the congressional baseball practice, the pure relief and gratitude that flooded me when I realized that Rand was okay.

WNU Editor: I have been a student and an observer of American politics for 40 years, but I have never seen this amount of hate, calls for violence, and violence from one political party directed at another as I have seen in the past two years. The scary part is that this type of vitriol only brings out the crazies, as we learned when a Bernie Sanders supporter tried to massacre a number of Republican Congressman playing baseball last year. I can also just imagine the number of death threats that President Trump must receive everyday, and the concerns and worries at the Secret Service on how to protect him, members of his staff, and Republican members of Congress. And the sad part is that this is getting worse.

Intimidation and violence is cool and hip and justified and righteous - as long as the left does it. Nothing wrong. Don't need to talk to each other about the v craziness you do. .because republicans are racist and evil so everything is justified. Oh glorious hillary Clinton - show us the just way

They were extremely fortunate that baseball that it wasn't a trained more proficient shooter or there would have been many deaths.
In Paul Ryan's impassioned speech he said "what you do to one of us you do to all of us". He and the members of Congress, both parties, often forget that when passing laws that favor and in some cases severely disparage the "lessor" citizens of the country.
He and the members of Congress will be crying the blues when one day those lessor citizens take revenge. Those he fail to study history .......
Lapides: When was the last time there was a violent mob of rightists without having an initiating leftist force? I can think of maybe one in the last 2 years. How many violent leftest mobs has there been in the last two years without rightist initiation? A least a dozen which have made the news cycle.
There seems to be a clear statistical bias towards the leftists' proclivity towards violence in the form of a mob.

If Left leaning groups attack 5 times for every time a right leaning group attacks, Fred would say the right leaning group was worse.

Of course the right has its extremist reactionaries that you don't really see or hear about much. They exist in small groups and stay in their small circles and do not project outward much at all. The left however is entirely overt, rabid, bellicose, openly violent at damn near every protest or rally, incredibly destructive, verbally disgusting and uncivil, they are encouraged by the leftist media and leftist public and political figures to behave this way and make unhinged insanity the status quo, social media companies popularize leftist hate speech as a model to follow, and countless other immensely disproportionate patterns of behavior that are entirely inclined toward the left. Republicans were in no way, shape or form the kind of extremist reactionaries that the left is to Trump. The fact you don't see a disparity in behavior here reflects exactly who and what you are.
