Are U.S. - Saudi Ties Still Strategically Important?

Sebastian Gorka, The Hill: Trump is right about Saudi Arabia: strategic concerns are paramount

They say politics is “the art of the possible.” So are geopolitics and strategy.

And being strategic requires prioritizing different interests and national objectives, especially when it comes to national security.

That is why President Trump’s statement on Jamal Khashoggi's murder is correct. What happened to the Saudi national at the Saudi consulate in Turkey is wrong. But our national response to his death cannot be allowed to jeopardize the precarious balance in the Middle East and endanger our regional and global interests, our safety or the security of our allies.

WNU Editor: Sebastian Gorka .... former deputy assistant and strategist to President Donald Trump .... is sadly correct. As long as the global economy is dependent on oil and Saudi Arabia produces the ten million barrels of oil that it does each day, U.S. - Saudi strategic concerns will remain paramount in U.S. foreign policy.

Xi puts Muslims in concentration camps and nobody in the press or US Democratic party raises a fuss. Obama used the federal police to harass his political opponents via the IRS. Obama had US citizens killed in overseas drone strikes. Obama had the Border Patrol fire tear gas at illegals trying to come into the US. Yet Dems and the Media kept quiet. No fuss.

Yet with Saudi Arabia acting in kind to Obama, all the fury of the press is unleashed against them. Dems are trying to destroy US-Saudi ties. Obviously the pro-Iran group in the media and Democratic movers and shakers are calling the shots, as they did with the awful Obama Iran deal.

One of the points may by Michael Moore in Fahrenheit 911 was that the Saudis own about 7% of the US economy. If true that suggests the relations hip with the Saudis is important.

This is not all about Oil, consider Iran and Syria as well. Also, in the oil front, the straits would be at risk which then gives someone else opportunities to block the oil shipments to around the globe. Having this partnership helps prevent these paths from taking shape.
