The Hill: Dems slam Trump for siding with Saudi Arabia in Khashoggi killing

Senate Democrats are calling out President Trump for refusing to blame Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for the death of U.S.-based journalist Jamal Khashoggi, despite the CIA’s recent finding that the Saudi leader was responsible.

Sens. Dianne Feinstein (Calif.) and Ron Wyden (Ore.), the two senior Democrats on the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), a senior member of the Foreign Relations panel, criticized Trump on Tuesday after he proclaimed that Saudi Arabia would “remain a steadfast partner.”

“I’m shocked that President Trump said there will be no punishment for Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman for the killing of Jamal Khashoggi,” Feinstein said in a statement.

His thug highness, MBS has put Trump in a very difficult position. It's not possible for The President to shrug this off. Too much political shrieking at this point. The stupidity to kill Khashoggi in Turkey - who has no love for Saudi Arabia and is delighted to put the screws to them - is an insult to the US. The deal should be that MBS will disappear and the Yemen war will stop. Or this will continue to spiral out of control and drive Saudi into the loving arms of Russia or China - probably both.

Senators who propose such things are either insane, or switching sides to the Iranians, because its all about Saudi Arabia vs Iran. Saudi Arabia should spend more money to charm these Senators out of their positions

I agree with that except I do not know if MBS was thinking about the US. Along with thug you could include smug, so I do not think the highness was thinking about the US.

My support for Saudi Arabia is up until Houthis are overthrown and the Ayatollahs are toppled.

MBS looked good permitting women to drive etc. Was it window dressing? It was a disappointment when he goes on an anti-corruption drive while buying a $500 million mansion in France.

If he would have constructed a $ 5000 million dollar Versailles while on an anti-corruption drive that would have been understandable.

I think another question we need to ask is in what other countries are journalists killed? Mexico comes to mind.
