Laura Bicker, BBC: US and North Korea suffer communication breakdown
Remember when Donald Trump said he and Kim Jong-un fell in love? Well now it seems they just don't talk anymore.
Instead, the US and North Korea appear to be staring one another down, waiting for the other to blink or make a move. And neither appears willing to give way.
Discussions aimed at setting up a second summit between the two leaders didn't happen as planned this week.
Chairman Kim's aide, the hardliner Kim Yong-chol was supposed to travel to New York and meet US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

If North Korea denuked, the sancitons come off, then things could proceed to prosperity on both sides of the border.
China and Russian went along with North Korean's inclinations to go around the sanctions and then raised the ante.
So North Korea is suffering some from the sanction and they feel the pain and so are angry.
If the U.S,. relents without getting the denuclearizaiton, it will be a door mat.
North Korea has to pick a side. South Korea has prospered not being physically bordering the U.S. (far far from it in fact) but part of the free world. North Korea can too.
Beside Russian kindly took all the factories in Hungnam and parts north from Korea and kindly repatriated them to the Soviet Union. Leaving the North Koreans dependent on Mother USSR. Nice people. The Germans helped the Russians.
This verifies the strategy is place by the Trumo campaign. We need to make sure they mean business before giving into any demands. Having said that, we should provide some carrots to keep this going. Would be a great thing come 2020.
"Just landed – a long trip, but everybody can now feel much safer than the day I took office. There is no longer a Nuclear Threat from North Korea. Meeting with Kim Jong Un was an interesting and very positive experience. North Korea has great potential for the future!"

Brilliant.
Actually I do feel safer now than 2 years ago. Obama was a mess with regards to defence. red line. Pivot to Asia. Nothing done with Iran except sending them money. Thanks for the quote though. Always good to read DJT classics.
My Obama classics:"we're leading from behind",the before mentioned pivot to Asia -while- gutting the military and letting China build all these islands, the "if you like your doctor you can keep your doctor".. oh and strategic patience (code for doing nothing)..ahhh so many good Obama memories
Yes, I agree, it's safer now that we have put them on notice and they are trying to negotiate. Basically called their bluff like we have not been doing; all for the sake of peace.
North Korea is still working on its ballistic missile program, say U.S. officials
Recent intel and satellite photos of work on undeclared missile sites underscore that regardless of Trump's statements, North Korean nukes remain a threat.
