Israel And Hamas At The Brink Of War

Jerusalem Post: From the city of peace to a country on the brink of war

The premier and his staff headed home in the dead of night, under a shower of rain that dimmed the lights of his convoy.

The guns of a possible Israel-Gaza war were fired less than 12 hours after church bells rang out throughout Paris at 11 a.m. on Sunday to commemorate the moment when the guns of World War I became silent exactly a century ago.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who had come to Paris to celebrate the 100th anniversary of that peace, cut his trip short after an IDF military operation gone awry rekindled violence with Hamas.

Israel has taken more than enough grief from these terrorists, long overdue for an offensive that reigns in all the trouble makers.
There will be plenty of international backlash and criticism but this tit for tat can’t go on forever.

"You mean hundreds of sly rockets landing in paddocks and fields..." Actually over the years many, many Israelis have died and suffered lifelong injuries as the result of attacks by Hamas and other enemies. I will look up the exact numbers time permitting, which it probably is not with my work and family schedules. I think the number is in the thousands and when lifelong injuries are factored in probably in excess of ten thousand. While this may not seem like a big number to you, for a small country like Israel it is massive.

Also, add in PTSD. It is VERY difficult for people who have this to function.

As an American, something I have to think about is my loved ones are in danger. As a perceived ally of Israel, America is at risk for blowback from Hamas and other Israeli enemies should this escalate and our homeland security personnel are not nearly as proficient as the Israelis. As such, the death toll among Americans could be incalculable. As an Aussie, your loved ones are safe and in no danger. As such, it is easy for you to flippantly dismiss the threat.

Thor is 100% correct. The only thing I could add is when that offensive finally does occur is the best thing for America to do is going to be provide diplomatic cover for Israel where and when possible understanding our ability to do so is going to be limited. Beyond this America should GET OUT OF ISRAEL'S WAY and not interfere with Israeli actions here.
