South Korea And Korean Experts Are Calling Yesterday's New York Times’ Story On North Korean Missiles Misleading

NBC: South Korea says 'nothing new' in report identifying North Korean bases

"North Korea never pledged a promise to abandon this missile sites," a spokesman for South Korea's president said.

SEOUL, South Korea — If any country should be worried about Kim Jong Un's nuclear weapons, it's South Korea, technically still at war with North Korea and with tens of millions of people in easy range of its arsenal.

But on Tuesday, Seoul reacted with something of a shrug to news that more than a dozen of North Korea's hidden missile sites had been identified by U.S. researchers using satellite images.

The reason for this, experts said, is that the agreement signed by Kim and President Donald Trump in June was so vague that it did not bind North Korea to do anything at all — let alone to give up the location of its secret bases.

Admittedly this can be a judgment call when we don't have all of the facts. The only way to have all of the facts would be to access to inside information in real time. Even then things can be subject ot interpretation.

Based upon the track record of the various "think tanks," US (un)intelligence, and the news media when presented with conflicting conclusions I will go with Trump and the South Koreans pretty much every time. Essentially the NYT and the contributing think tank and such personnel acted recklessly here in presenting us with incorrect information. Such actions risk undercutting a very important diplomatic initiative that we need to succeed. Of course such people have done this before. As such, it is not surprising that they would do this again. Frankly they should be ashamed of themselves.

The author of the breathless report of 13 missile bases is forced to admit deep in the article that the bases would only be used to launch in the case of emergency. In other words, they are not ready made to launch missiles. This author should be ashamed of himself as well. Of course with the evil and the partisan such people have no shame. As such, expecting these people to feel normal emotions I likely asking a bit much.

Kudos to president Trump and his team for quickly getting out in front and countering such inaccurate reporting. Our enemies have already thwarted one and likely multiple diplomatic initiatives. It is it vitally important that they not be allowed to thwart this one. If a peaceful resolution can be found here, this opens vast opportunities all around.

Elected leaders of south Korea and the US say the NY times is full of it. But hey, no problem, corrections will be made in a small note in one of the next edition. No harm done. Just journalism in 2018. Falsehoods to make Trump look bad even if it could accidentally cause war. Classy

Is the NYTimes dangerous to world peace? Doesn't it seem like it?
