Kyiv Post: Western leaders slow in responding to Russian attacks on Ukraine
The leaders of Western countries are not moving fast in taking action to respond to Russia’s latest acts of aggression against Ukraine, in the wake of the Nov. 25 attacks on boats belonging to the Ukrainian navy on the Black Sea near the Kerch Strait that connects to the Azov Sea.
The operation on the evening of Nov. 25 by naval elements of Russia’s Federal Security Service, or FSB, backed by Spetsnaz special forces, resulted in three Ukrainian vessels being illegally seized and 24 sailors captured and imprisoned.
In response, the Ukrainian government called for an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council and later implemented limited martial law across coastal regions of Ukraine, as well as those bordering Russia on land.

Ukraine wants to proceed with steps to pave the way for entering NATO, and these steps are likely to happen in the new year with constitutional changes along with military reform.
So do we really expect Russia to stand back and do nothing? I can't foresee Putin wanting, or be accepting of Ukraine's ambitions to become a NATO member. And if NATO has any common sense, they'll not allow it, due current tensions.
Putin does not want it so it is ok for russia to do what it wants? Trump will....? nada,zip, nothing, zero
As has been highlighted many times by WNU editor, Ukraine isn't part of an military alliance. Neither the EU nor the USA will send troops. Their best hope is to reform their corrupt govt and businesses so they can build trade with the EU. Grow their economy, like the former east bloc nations have done. Second work with countries to buy gear they need for their military. So far the USA is willing and able. But I have no doubt the US would sell out Ukraine in a deal with Putin to normalize Russian-US relations, if such as deal came to pass.
