U.S. Soldiers Prepare For Thanksgiving

Soldiers with Task Force Lifeliner, Joint Forces Command – United Assistance dive into one of the many Thanksgiving pies and desserts offered in the dining facility at brigade support area in Buchanan, Liberia, Nov. 27, 2014. U.S. Army photo by Sgt. 1st Class Mary Mittlesteadt

NBC: Why is the Pentagon sending so many pies to our troops this Thanksgiving?

Troops deployed overseas are getting an extra 75,000 pies — a more than twelvefold increase — because of "a change in menu planning."

WASHINGTON — There will be more than 12 times as many pies heading to U.S. troops deployed away from their loved ones this Thanksgiving — a total of 81,360 versus last year's pie count of 6,288.

Why is there a pie surge? It's a mystery.

Traditionally, the Defense Logistics Agency, which handles food supplies for the military, feeds troops that are deployed in hazardous areas over the holidays. In past years the DLA has sent meals to troops in Afghanistan, Iraq and other bases in the Central Command area and the Middle East. There are currently about 40,000 troops in those sectors, a number similar to the 2017 total.

This year, the U.S. also has more than 5,000 troops on border duty in Texas, Arizona and California.

I hope the border troops have a good Thanksgiving. That ridiculous PR stunt will keep them away from their families for the holiday. For What? There is no good reason for them to be down there.

You are not speaking for me.

But I do wish every service man and woman a great thanksgiving and thank them for their service and keeping us safe.

The Hondurans are violating international law and intend to violate American law.

If they cross the border illegally, they are violating American law.

If they lie on their application, they are violating American law.

We need the troops on the border because the border patrol is just that, a patrol. they cannot handle a few thousand at once.

I agree. And I'm so sick and tired of lefties in cities not getting it. Life close to the border is a bit different. And walls work. I'm sorry. Of course you can bring a 30 foot ladder but that's just much harder. And of course you can build a tunnel but that too is harder. A combination of physical barriers and technology+manpower is what we need and hopefully get soon. This madness has to stop. And on cnn Jim acosta and univision are laughing their asses off because the idiots on the left are too dumb to see what's happening
