A long fight by lawmakers like Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) is set to go mainstream, and an antiwar push on Yemen soon after the midterms could show how.
WASHINGTON ― As Democrats plan for a potential future in which they have control of the U.S. House, lawmakers, candidates and outside groups close to the party are quietly preparing a new push against the overlooked war in Afghanistan.
The last time the party controlled the lower chamber of Congress, the U.S. had close to 50,000 troops in Afghanistan. Today that number is 15,000 — but it’s been eight years, and there’s still no clarity about when the longest war in American history will actually come to an end. President Donald Trump’s stated policy is that the U.S. presence has no time limit.

Getting crotchety with old age and being full of herself, she might help out the RNC in 2020.
There are articles and sound bite by pundits and politicians about how Afghanistan was the good war and Iraq was the bad war.
So if the anti-war nuts want to got there, let them. They will fixed in place and their party voted out in 2020.
It is not a tenable position to acknowledge Osama Bin Laden carried out 911, publicly declared that he did, and the Taliban government of Afghanistan not turning him over.
The only way that the antiwar liberal wingnuts get any credit is to state that Pakistan is a back stabber, Iran is providing aid and comfort, etc and thus we are pulling out for now or until something else happens.

Western Europe wanted Dem victories because it is mostly to the left of US Dems. What they got are newcomers to the House who are against the Atlantist vision. These new Dems see no need to prop up Germany or France via NATO. They see eye to eye on the Middle East, pro Iran, pro Palestine, anti US everything. This is perfect for more chaos and migrants surging into Europe. What Europe got is more fractures in what used to be called the Atlantic Alliance.
