A kilogram of chicken pictured next to 14,600,000 bolivars, the equivalent of 2.22 USD, at a mini-market in Caracas
WNU Editor: I only have one contact in Venezuela. He lives in Caracas, and he tells me on what is happening in his city, and when he can get out, the countryside. His description on what is happening is disheartening. As a retired dentist he has money that he put aside before the crisis really hit everyone, and he can afford protection from the gangs who prey on people like him. But life is still precarious, and very dangerous. He emailed me a post this morning, and told me that this is the best English description on what people are going through in Caracus. I am not in the habit of posting from Prepper sites, but this one is a must read (there is an advertisement that pops-up in front of the story, just click you mouse on the side of the ad and it will go away) .... 10 Survival Rules When Society Collapses: Lessons from Venezuela (Prepper Website).

I visited Caracas in 1987 while on liberty from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower. The ship had to anchor about a mile off shore and we ferried into port. A sweaty, bustling, tropical Latin American city. We were treated well. Flew to Margarita Island and had a swell time.
And the place was packed with Canadians!
Very sad to see the state of ruin that the country is in now.
Interesting article and scary. Strange that losing the stuff he brought for his brother to the customs guy he didn't lose money. I would think that would have been confiscated for sure.
Makes you think about asset confiscation by cops back in America.
Dang WNU, you posted a story form a prepper site.
That means you are alt-right in the eyes of some mavens.
"Makes you think about asset confiscation by cops back in America."

There are so many parallels that beg mentioning if only to elicit an inane comment from yourself. I don't like to do it, but somebody needed to take on the job of helping you learn your country's history, and especially pointing out to you the ongoing stuff that is becoming history as we live and breath.
It must be a pain being you.
Bob you do not know then history of any land. You are just a freaking troll is all.

I have to apologize for my error. When I said "It must be a pain being you." I left out the "married to" between "being" and "you". Sorry.
Bob,
You should apologize for writing you are married, divorced, separated, a kept man and every other lie you have told.
